He's a much better fielder.

He struck out looking last year too. What he didn’t do last year and still doesn’t do this year is chase balls out of the zone.

I haven’t looked at the numbers, and I’m just going by my observation, but it seems like he is striking out looking more this year.

I don’t know the numbers either, but he is striking out at a lower rate this year

he can be placed on the mound and throw 95-96mph

brown has never been that high ever. He also has said the goal has always been to make it as a position player.

How has he not filled out his frame?

I think this was just an uninformed off the cuff remark about filling his frame in the post you responed to. I heard an interview with him in the fall that he had put on 15lbs of muscle mass. By the roster he is 10 lbs fuller this year over last

Honestly I don’t think there’s much separating the two but right now it’s project ability . Curiel has elite bat to ball and A LOT more juice left. Pro orgs see a guy they can easily add 15-20 lbs of muscle too without sacrificing athleticism and adjust bat path to generate more lift and they’ve got a 20-20 guy at worst
Brown is closer to what he’s going to be - a big leaguer- today so less upside in the long run. Big leaguer orgs lust over potential

I agree with this, Jake can just see the ball man. And calm and cool always. Not saying Curiel is not a baller though, because he will be a solid Pro also.

His contact and defense will get him to the majors and he’ll have a season or 2 with lower HR numbers, but he’ll develop more strength and refine that swing for more pop through that time to become a 30 HR guy. He plays a premium position also

This is not a slight to DC in the least, but predicting this for a guy hitting .330 ish in college with 8 total HR in his career is crazy work. Curiel is an outstanding player. Now think back to all of the outstanding players at LSU and other schools who never sniffed the bigs.

I do think he has a chance to make the majors, but baseball is hard, and it's anything but a foregone conclusion that he'll make it and become an above average power hitter at the highest level.
