IDK. Minnesota had been to 5 straight bowls before Fleck rowed their boat.

Well when Aranda signed his new contract after a&m came calling I remember part of that new deal was some sort of associate head coach/hc in waiting type of deal if he wants it?

I don’t remember the accurate terminology, but I do remember it vaguely.

The only way to make the rantards happy would be to offer Nick Saban $15 million a year to come back.

Former offensive coordinator/QB Coach.
Former successful college QB.
Pro experience (either playing or coaching)
Pass first
A Recruiter, A X’s & O’s.
Players coach (not a super disciplinarian. frick that)
The more I type the more I feel like I’m describing Steve Spurrier.

So yea. Whoever the young Steve Spurrier is.

I have never met Aranda but I know the product he put's on the field and his demeanor. I see nothing that would preclude him from being a top tier HC with the talent we could get at LSU. I think an ironclad requirement that we HAVE to hire someone who has been a HC is ridiculous.

Do y'all trust him to bring in a top notch OC?

To answer your question I have always agreed it’s easier for LSU to attract elite defensive coaches. Therefore I would lean towards an offensive minded coach.

Regardless, it would be nice to hire an x and o’s coach on either side of the ball to at least lock down one side.. and not constantly be dependent upon hitting on both coordinators.

I would be okay with Aranda as HC because it would lock down that side of the ball.

I would love to see LSU at least contact Stoops. Even though he’s probably firm on retirement, it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

I've identified a very specific set of guidelines in selecting our head coach. His first directive from me will be to create a culture of excellence and character in every facet of our football program in order to compete at a championship level every year.

He must have the highest standards of integrity and work ethic LSU fans have come to expect.

He must be a skilled and relentless recruiter, attracting the most gifted student-athletes to our university while instilling pride and confidence in parents who entrust their children to our program.

He must be able to motivate our players to perform at the highest level, and to hold them accountable to certain standards of behavior both on and off the field. He must be committed to continuing a tradition defined by character and integrity.

He must have the instinct to adapt to changes in the game of college football, allowing LSU to compete for championships every year.

Finally, he must be an accomplished leader of the young men who will rely on him for strength and guidance and from whom they will learn valuable lessons that will have a lasting impact on their lives.

Fine. Make it $20 million to guarantee he would come back.

We'll just get TAF to pony up, raise the tradition fund, and lay off Will Wade and Paul Mainieri.

If he would stay for 5+ years, it Would be the best investment LSU has ever made.

But as was already stated, you're being dense.

The only spot I worry with Aranda is recruiting. It would be imperative that he get a staff around him that can recruit, because it is not an area he thrives in. It's just not his demeanor. Not that he can't do it, but he's someone that thrives off of the X's and O's of the game. To me, he should get an elite level recruiter and make him DC since Aranda would be handling most of the DC stuff anyway.

3 things:

1) You're an MSU fan. Why this, and why here?

2) I love LSU and want CEO to do great even though the jury's still very much out.

3) ARANDA.

But it’s okay to hire one that failed as HC.

It’s silly to even have that guideline then.

*highjack*
It sounds like Ensminger was going to be promoted to OC no matter what. If Kliff Kingsbury had been fired after this past season and was conpletely open to coming to LSU as HC, would O still have promoted his guy? It sure sounds like it now. To me, he is as good as it gets in terms of quarterback development at the college level.

I hate LSU even put themselves in this position after firing Miles. They could have have brought in an offensive mind and probably still retained both Aranda as DC and O as DL coach. It is what it is though. Alleva must go regardless. I have never cared for him after what he did to the Duke lacrosse coach. He forced him to resign or be fired under false accusations of his players.
