There is none.

LSU should abolish its drug testing program, it serves no purpose other than to punish kids because adults say they shouldn’t use drugs.

Y’all saying “it is a privilege to be a part of the NCAA” really are ignorant. Just because you are a part of an organization doesn’t mean you should blindly follow them to the ends of the earth. The whole premise behind growth and expansion is change, this means leaving some old practices behind for newer, better, innovative ones.

If no one questions what big organizations do wrong, it’s a recipe for disaster, curruption, along with a litany of other bad adjectives.

Every time an LSU player gets in trouble for "violating team rules," you can bet it's weed.

Using presception drugs that aren't prescribed to you or other narcotics, unless you're in California or Washington, is illegal in this country, genius.

Is it too much to ask someone who is getting a scholarship to play football to keep clean? Rhetorical question, of course. Apparently it is for some people, who are then also too stupid not to use their own piss for a piss test.

I never realized Kristian Fulton was the next Deion Sanders, but amazingly, LSU will play its 2018 schedule whether he's on the field or not and the world will survive.

Alcohol under the age of 21 is illegal also. They do not test for alcohol.

Next.

LSU chooses to enforce a no-drug policy, as part of the academic aspect of the institution. It's something that they, as the organizational head of the athletic program, have decided. Yes, they don't want student-athletes in their programs testing positive for drugs.

If you truly don't like that, you don't have to participate. You can attempt to form your own organization, league, etc, and participate in that instead. And hope it highlights your abilities to the various pro leagues, so that they might draft or sign you.
It'll be an uphill battle, but if your professed dream is to one day play in the NFL, you should research what you need to do, find the place to go and do it, and follow whatever rules they set in place.

It's voluntary to play college football, I'm pretty sure at some point you sign agreements to adhere to basic rules that are laid out.

Why? The NCAA already tests for steroids, that’s good enough. I don’t care if a player smokes pot, no one should.

Richard Dickson said on radio today that football players are tested 2-3 times per season, with previous offenders double that. What a colossal waste of money.

LSU can do as they decide fit.

Not every university even fields a football team. LSU chooses to do so at the highest level, funds it completely, provides all facilities, training, etc. They accept complete responsibility, and provide full scholarships to players. In return for offering this, they require compliance to certain rules of their own making, as well as NCAA-mandated requirements.

You don't HAVE to participate. It's voluntary.

The NFL doesn't have to take only college players, they can sign people who never played the game, or never attended college. They do stipulate a certain age/years removed from high school bit, not clear what that is.

If you don't want to follow LSU's or anyone else's rules, you can attempt to pursue it outside that path. Good luck getting noticed, but you can try, if following rules are that big an issue to you.

Fulton did something he thought would get him in trouble. He then did something else that specifically WOULD get him in trouble, in an attempt to avoid getting caught. This compounded the issue. He has not been permanently banned, he merely received a sizable penalty, which was on the books before he did it. I'm pretty sure he realizes he acted like an idiot, but he needs to own this and move on to bettering his situation.
He had an appeal, it was denied. Nobody is sticking it to him, he's paying the consequences for his actions.

Good god.

I know LSU can choose whether or not to have a drug testing policy. I know they choose to have one right now. I think they should not have one.

But please, post some more long winded bullshite about protocol and whatever else you’re babbling about.

You think they should drop testing for drugs.

Whoever's running it on the higher end, I guess, doesn't. They control it.

Without getting emotional about the topic- it's about perception and profits.

What's in it for LSU?

You are correct in that you think your are right, your logic and conclusion has a liberal interpretation.

I totally disagree and having a non-profit organization overseeing athletics of public universities is the only
way to do this allowing the organization more freedom to move and rule.

College athletics under the NCAA operate mostly though private money with revenue coming though private companies like Television contracts along with gate revenue.

Not everything needs to be public and in fact being non public or non-profit is more effective in this case

The NCAA is far from perfect and their rulings at times show bias for sure.

The justification is that players gain an unfair advantage by using PEDs. How hard is this to comprehend?

the OP didn't ask about PED's he asked about recreational drugs. Someone answered that the ncaa doesn't test for recreational drugs only PEDs. Question answered, end of thread.

several of the posters above you disagree that they test for recreational drugs. Do they or don't they? If they test for recreational then this is fricked up

weed is definitely not performance enhancing. If a person can manage to be a pothead and still student athlete at the highest levels more power to him.
