i love how people try to belittle a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP team because of their hatred for Miles. it's ridiculous
Call it what you will, but facts are facts.
Was LSU's '07 season as impressive as bama's '09 season?
Teams need luck, no doubt. But to say that Miles had an extraordinary amount of luck in '07 is accurate (moreso than any other BCS champ, ever).
The fact is that any, ANY other year people would remember 2007 for the 2 pitiful loses to unranked teams & what could have been.

He beat UT with a backup QB in the SECCG and fairly easily beat the #1 team in the country.
so after he screwed up twice, he finally got it right the 3rd time.

But arguing the merits of a coach whose program is on a current decline (however long it lasts), who is a national laughing stock, who your most ardent rivals hope stays as your coach for years to come, who is not an expert on either side of the ball, who is not an expert in any phase of game preparation, etc is something else.

these are all your opinions, which is fine....but as a matter of fact, i was watching College Football Live yesterday and they were talking about why the SEC is so much better than other conferences. All the commentators said it was because the SEC had better coaching...and they all mentioned Saban, Meyer, Miles, and Petrino.

The FACT is...when it came down to it, LSU won the SECCG and the NCG and finished #1 in the country with a trophy. I thought LSU fans would be happy with a NC but i guess i'm crazy.

i prefer to remember this by the way

but hey...that's just me.

Winning!

51-15 in 5 years

Again with the 5-year winning percentage.

If you walk around at the top of a cliff for three hours and then jump off, at the instant just before impact, your average downward velocity for the three-hour period will be less than 1 m.p.h., which is not fast enough to hurt anyone, so everything should be fine, right?

again...these are all your opinions. Did you even read the rest of the post?

This is all pointless anyway so i'm done with this thread. Just don't understand why some of you want a coach of your supposedly favorite team to fail instead of succeed....and don't feed me the "i hope i'm wrong" bullshite.

The difference between hoping for something and thinking it will happen is really a pretty elementary concept. Any adult with even reasonable intellectual capabilities should be able get it. Of course, that qualification excludes most, if not all, of those who still think Les Miles is a good coach, I guess.

We also needed luck to get in the BCS game in 03 as well. However, people easily forget that.

People just can't let Saban go.

It's not a Saban post, dumbass. Was the '07 season as impressive as any other BCS champ season? The answer is no b/c '07 is the only 2 loss champ. In no other year would LSU have had that opportunity & we would all remember '07 for losing to 2 unranked teams and blowing our chance. Luck, & luck alone, had another plan.
Remember, any other year & that season is a dissappointment. That can't be discounted.

But you can keep bringing Saban up.

Almost every NC has an element of "luck." Some examples:

1996: UF just lost to FSU. Needed a major upset by Texas over Neb to get a re-match.

2006: UF had to block a FG (two?) attempts by USCe to win. Don't know if you want to call it luck or not but we gift wrapped several freebies against UF that year as well.

2009: Bama was very fortunate to beat Tenn, and although they outplayed us the no-call on the int was just bad. All it would have taken is one play. And they needed a big 4th qtr drive against Aubbie.

This is not a defense of Les but just to point out that everyone has close calls.

Dumbass? OK internet tuff guy.

You're the one bringing up bama's 09 championship.

I don't care if it was a 3-loss championship. Someone is going to win it, why not LSU?

LSU has the only fans that will try and discredit their own championship.

I know many sport fans that were raised in all parts of the country. Pro football fanatics, college football fanatics, one guy that interned at ESPN, ACC and SEC fans, etc. You get the point.

They all send their sympathy and I must say that I tire of them asking when LSU will wake up and send him packing.

If you went to Rice, Vandy or an Ivy League School you may be content with LSUs last two seasons. If you are a current or former football player or coach, you can not be proud of the product coming out of Miles' kitchen, post Pelini.
