That doesn't even take into account the heat Miles took for throwing JJ under the bus for his calling for a spike, trying to call TO after COP, co-DC abortion, et al.
quote:I know you're not insinuating that those outside of LSU view CLM as anything but an idiot. That basically every major media outlet has named a clock mgt debacle "pulling a Les Miles" and that basically all other SEC fans hope Miles stays at LSU for a long, long time would strongly suggest otherwise.

Outside of the LSU fan base, an idiot

You have it backwards.

So if you're trying to say that Miles, despite the momentumum of the Saban-run program and the enormous amount of Saban-coached and recruited talent, was the mastermind of LSU's national championship in 2007,
There was not an enormous amount of Saban coached talent in 2007...and you're basically saying LSU was running on the "momentum" of a coach that hadn't been there in over 3 years and whose recruits had been coached by Miles for 3 years.
I find it amazing how some of you just refuse to give credit where it's due and try and belittle a national championship team.
quote:
If you think Miles has never lost control of this team, please see "The 2008 LSU Football Team."
How many players were suspended, arrested, stabbed, or killed on the 2008 team?
quote:
BTW, Coker never actually went .500. He was fired at the end of the 2006 season and at that time, his team's record was 6-6. However, he was allowed to coach in the bowl game (MPC Computers Bowl where Miami won) that year which brought his record to 7-6.
regular season record was .500, which Miles has never had...but since you want to get technical, he's never had a 7-6 season either.
quote:
If you only used Coker's first 5 years in your comparrison, you'd see that Coker 1) had a slightly better record than Miles, and 2) had the same, or better, records in his 3rd and 4th seasons as Miles' had at LSU,
Coker coached in the Big East and ACC
Coker never had a better record than the previous year.

What is Les Miles football known for?
Positives:
Good special teams
Loyalty to his team
Good recruiting
Players seem to like him
Negatives:
Inability to develop players
Poor time management and in game coaching skills
Extremely poor communication skills
Playing for a tie or a close win
No killer instinct
No discipline (on the field)
Poor player and play selection
Bad coordinator hires
Teams have no identity
Passivity
Clearly his negatives outweigh his positives.

Miles' ineptitude will eventually make this case a "no brainer."
unfortunately for LSU...this!

Anyone who doesn't see a sharp decline in the performance of this program over the past two & half years must be related to Miles
this is what i've been screaming the whole freaking time! all of the Miles disciples can only say "well, he's 51-15" without even considering the current lack of quality and organization of the team at this point in time.

teams and coaches have down years...college football is cyclical.
Do we fire a coach everytime he has a couple a sub-par years? We'd be hard pressed to find a new one if we did.
Either way...i think the ship gets righted this year anyways. And if for some reason Miles is not the coach next year, then i'll pull whole-heartedly for the new coach because he's the head coach....just like i've done for every coach since Arnsparger.
There's nothing wrong with being optimistic...some of ya'll should try it sometime. It makes life much easier.

Until LSU gives me a direct line to the AD and the power to hire and fire...i will support the coaching staff and hope they have success...even if i disagree with some of their decisions on and off the field.

How many ex Tigers have been quoted as giving MIles credit for their success here and after leaving LSU?

do you remember why he got that raise?

He beat UT with a backup QB in the SECCG and fairly easily beat the #1 team in the country.

we're talking about his tenure at LSU...pay attention

losing control and getting beat are two different things.

Nothing consistent defines LSU under Miles. There hasn't been consistency. THis will be his year to begin making it happen or not. LSU football under Miles really doesn't have a consistency.

i love how people try to belittle a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP team because of their hatred for Miles. it's ridiculous.

If you want to say that you just pull very hard for your team and are optimistic always, great. I can get with that.
But arguing the merits of a coach whose program is on a current decline (however long it lasts), who is a national laughing stock, who your most ardent rivals hope stays as your coach for years to come (this speaks volumes), who is not an expert on either side of the ball, who is not an expert in any phase of game preparation, etc is something else.
(pls don't say that technically we are improving since we were slightly better in '09 after a freefall in '08. that's just ignorant)
