The luckiest SOB ever to coach the game.

...because team message boards are chock full of people that know what they're talking about. If it's anything like what this board has turned into then i'll pass.

Waiting two yrs. to play his best Players! Other coaches will play a freshman if he is better at the position.

that's why the fans don't like les, in my opinion. he has nothing to hang his hat on.
fact is, it don't matter. won ten games a year so far at lsu, has a really good team coming back the next two years, and some great recruits from the state coming in after.

If thinking for myself and not believing everything i read on message boards because the majority of people on them don't know what the hell they're talking about (take this board for example) means i "keep blinders on" then i guess i'm guilty.

Anyone who supports the current coach, one of the winningest coaches in LSU history, has blinders on, according to some.
When Saban won championships with other coaches' players, it's because Saban is such a great coach.
When Miles won a championship with another coach's players, it's because the other coach was such a great coach.
When Saban lost to crap teams, it's because the previous coach recruited bad playes.
When Miles lost to teams he should have beaten, it's because he's a bad coach.
Consistency is lacking in some people's minds.

Could you name a few freshmen that should've started and didn't please...because Patrick Peterson disagrees with you and Mingo will probably be a situational starter this year.

you know...i know...anyone with a brain, who can think for themselves, and doesn't believe everything they read on the Tiger Rant knows why Miles and Coker are different.
...because Coker was an assistant at Miami before he was promoted to head coach and Miles left another school to assume the head coaching position at LSU?
Posted on 4/16/10 at 10:40 am to Choctaw
quote:
Coker won a NC his first year
Miles has never had a .500 season
Miles has never lost complete control of his team and had 10+ players suspended or arrested in one season
...just to name a few
Coker got to an NC game, though, in his second year, and if it weren't for a ticky-tack late flag at the end of regulation, would've won two in a row. Additionally, Miami went to a BCS bowl in Coker's 3rd year. So if you're trying to say that Miles, despite the momentumum of the Saban-run program and the enormous amount of Saban-coached and recruited talent, was the mastermind of LSU's national championship in 2007, you'd also have to say that Coker, despite the enormous NFL talent on his teams in 2001, 2002, and 2003, was the mastermind of those 11 and 12 win seasons.
If you think Miles has never lost control of this team, please see "The 2008 LSU Football Team."
And for the "Coker wasn't able to continue to recruit like Miles has been able to" crowd, in 2004, Coker recruited 9 4-star recruits, and 3 5-Star recruits. In 2005, Coker recruited 11 4-star recruits and 2 5-Star recruits. Recruiting at Miami down the stretch didn't fall off like all of the sunshine pumpers would have you believe. Miami just flipped a coin and hired a sub-par head coach.
BTW, Coker never actually went .500. He was fired at the end of the 2006 season and at that time, his team's record was 6-6. However, he was allowed to coach in the bowl game (MPC Computers Bowl where Miami won) that year which brought his record to 7-6. But your argument here is weak regardless because Coker was fired in his 6th year. In his 5 years as head coach at Miami, he was 53-9 (better than Less). Miles has only coached at LSU for 5 years. If you only used Coker's first 5 years in your comparrison, you'd see that Coker 1) had a slightly better record than Miles, and 2) had the same, or better, records in his 3rd and 4th seasons as Miles' had at LSU, yet nevertheless had Miami in a path of decline following his first successful 3 seasons (which followed the tenure of an excellent coach/predecessor).
Again, how is Miles' career at LSU so different from Coker's at Miami?

shut up, you mean face!! it's just different because..well..Coker won his NC in his 1st year and Miles won it in his 3rd. now, TAKE THAT!! plus..well..Miami had players arrested or something. forget the RP shenanigans or that TT just recently got tazed. forget that both coaches lost 2 games in their 3rd year, but only one of them was able to claim a 2 loss BCS title (thanks to Pitt and Oklahoma) after being ranked 7th in the SECCG and being UPSET by an unranked Ar-kansas AT HOME just a week earlier. so stop being so mean, you bunch of meanies. Less Miles is better...well...just because. btw, Saban went 8-5 in 2002. NOW!!! TAKE THAT!!!!

When are you going to learn?
I'd like to say that Miles' ineptitude will eventually make this case a "no brainer."
But given the complete blindness of some even after his slew of utter brain farts, I think it may never happen for those.
Anyone who doesn't see a sharp decline in the performance of this program over the past two & half years must be related to Miles.
