What is it that Les and Crowton see that we don't?

I guess I'm a bit befuddled at what they are looking at with regard to a players effectiveness.

Why wouldn't they pull the plug on Lee in the '08 season after his pick 6's started to mount. I can understand sticking with him for awhile, but it took an injury for Jefferson to get the nod.

The bottom line is...I can't imagine that LSU doesn't have a competent QB. What in God's name are they looking at?

Cincinnati had 2 QB's last year that were fantastic. We shoudln't have these difficulties getting a good QB.

I could list 30 small schools that had better QB's than LSU. Boise, TCU, Cincy, Texas Tech, Wake, Utah, La. Tech, North Texas, Troy, and the list goes on and on.

What gives?

Ryan Perilloux.

He would have been a senior.

Don't ever question the Hat and the Wizard.
Studrawa better do his job first and foremost.

If they struggle this year, they can join the Magic Man and Complete Linebacking doing who knows what.

It wasnt all Lee's fault for those pick 6's. It was the Big12/Pac 10 style play calling. When you have a good O-line and 2 solid RB's why would you make a freshman throw 30-35 times a game against good SEC defenses.

because the defense was giving up points in big chunks...although I agree that there were several times when certain plays should have never been called.

the reason that the plug wasn't pulled is the really wanted JJ to redshirt. Practice reports during the year indicated that he wasn't close to being ready.

This. They were just trying to make it through the year the best they could without burning JJ's red shirt. The real problem to me was a defense that couldn't stop anyone and Crowton not adjusting to make the most of what he had to work with. Crowton really may be a great OC when he has all the pieces fitting together, but he has also shown he's incapable or unwilling to make adjustments when he doesn't.

JJ was not ready. Against the exact same competition he would have fared no better(and possibly worse) than JL in '08.

I see where you're getting at, but why do both of our QBs seem to lack confidence and are not competent? I can understand one player having this problem, but why do our top two QBs on the roster have so many mental issues? The only common factor is coaching. Playing in Crowton's scheme seems to shatter the confidence of a young, inexperienced QB. Because, like previously stated, he makes no adjustments to his game plan and continues to force plays the players are uncomfortable and unsure with.

Completley agree. If we want to think of ourselves as an elite program, then we can't take two seasons off due to poor QB play. 2008 should have been used to slowly groom Lee so he will be ready for a full role in 2009. Instead, Crowton's insane offensive scheme ruined his self-confidence, which forced Miles to start Jefferson, whose confidence has also been ruined thanks to Crowton's system. To me, Crowton is the problem and must go. He is the QB coach, so why do both our QBs share similiar problems?
