Chavis the defensive Coach and I think one of the best, must also be helping the coaches on the offensive side this is probably the best arrangement I have seen. Think about it, they have the best viewing of the entire game. They can help each other when each may see something and pass it on instantly. That has to be a big help. The proof is in the results, under all of the different events that we have gone through, the team is getting better, that did not happen before. They keep it simple and old time football. Just like that other team we are going to play in November.

My reply:
Wow, How cool... I did not know that!! Yes, that would make talking to one another very easy to do. That is a Super duper idea.
I like that a lot. The more I learn about Les Miles the more he seem to impress me. The guy is full of surprises. Just like he coaches.
You never know?

Thank you for starting a real thread.

Didn't Billy G coach at Florida before coming here?

And your point is. What does him coaching at Florida have to do with anything. We had six dropped passes Sat. and a dropped touchdown the Sat. before and about 3 against Oregon. There is a problem.

Coaching at Florida doesn't mean youre a great coach. But on here he has been labeled the messiah of all coaches. Amazes me. I haven't seen great improvement in any WR since he has come in. If it weren't for Beckham, we would be bad this year.

Teaching blocking and route running?

They probably catch them all in practice. Damn Gonzales for not being on the field with them.

It is strange how many dropped passes we have every game.

They dropped tons last year, too. Many passes were off target and many were dropped as well. Rgardles,, clearly this is an issue. IDGAF - if they catch them all in practice and have this many drops on game day, it is a failure.

naw ..
we just look the other way and it will go away.

the problem is concentration/discipline in practice..which shows up in games...

drops and penalties keep showing up and have for years, this is not new, but no one is kicking arse in practices.

you will play that which you practice.

Agreed, but who's failure?

The coach or players?

So you want a coach to teach someone how to catch a football? This was the responsibility of there dad/pop warner coach.

Considering the only receiver with consistent hands is OBJ, a true freshman, I think you've got to look at the coaching. Catching with your hands, away from your body, can be taught.

I've heard it opined that BG is good for recruiting FL talent. That may be the case, I don't know. But the lack of development of very talented receivers is a huge detriment to the team, IMHO.

on who's part? if you're blaming it on a coach...you're full of shite. the coach has them in postition to make plays....it is the ultimate responsibility of the players to make said plays. at this point in time we have a passing game that is merely good....not great. I don't expect our qb's or receivers to improve greatly as the season progresses. we are who we are....Gonzo is not the problem.

Not every athlete comes to practice being great at everything. At any level, a position coach's job is to identify those shortcomings and run drills to fix them.
