This is not just for him but for all college players. Could this be a trend?

What if a player transfers to a school just to start for one year at the new location, only to know they would go back to original school once their spot opens up. It makes sense to start, get the reps but come back to home and to the place you really can win.

Would you be ok with kids who did this? Could this be something we see more of?

Yes he’s going to Tenn this year. But my point is, if he plays there then jumps into portal at the end of the season where he can transfer back to an SEC school.

Alabama player is transferring back after transferring to Iowa. Not sure if the rule is different if the initial transfer is to another SEC school:

the crazy of the portal is only beginning with the new ncaa rule and on top of that Virginia has added a new layer to the mix as it allows the school to pay out NIL

Now all schools will piggyback off of that rule

And is there a more blatant violation with regards to NIL out there now then Jerry Jones offering double money to sway them to Arkansas

The kid isn’t committed to be a tiger. It’s all about him. Not the team.

Wouldn't matter if the fans are okay with it. It's what the locker room would think.

But on top of that, this doesn't feel realistic at all. Players leaving for a year to start only to come back and retain their spot on the depth chart and move into a starter role? C'mon dude.

The Alabama LT who did it transferred to Iowa, but then maybe by accident admitted Iowa tampered with him to recruit him. Iowa reported the violations and he was allowed to transfer back to bama.

Didn't Raph Rhymes do this in baseball?

Raph Rhymes deal had more to do with roster limitations baseball has always had

He didn't make the roster and he went to LSU E and came back to LSU

He was processed. Told to go and improve and to come back.

That’s what I’m saying teams can do now. Like for Khai Prean. Tell him to transfer to a small school, start, improve and have the chance to come back when you’re better.

Sorry if this is going on a tangent but it has struck me as odd that world soccer is governed by FIFA that allows teams to “loan” players back and forth, often with option to “buy” the contract at the end of the loan. Not impossible for certain new rules to be created for LSU’s 4th string players to play for Southeastern, any D-II school or whatever, kinda like a JV team but stay on LSU’s roster

Can Zalance play next season? I keep hearing that transfers within the conference have to wait 1 year to get on the field. Or, does that rule only apply to spring transfers within the SEC?

I’d rather stick with Weston Davis or Ethan Calloway Baw

OL recruiting looks pretty damn strong. As good as Heard may turn out to be I think that door is closed.

I think this scenario would be relatively common. But I have a hard time seeing many coaches allowing a guy who makes a "lateral" move to come back once he realizes the grass is not actually greener
