he's going to start charging $20 for football parking along Stanford Ave, and $5 for walking across campus.

When people ask me what I think of Alleva I ask them a question in reply.

Do you trust Alleva to hire the next football coach??

Believe most would say no.

To be honest. Scares the hell out of me to think about it.

He's one of the most well-respected ADs around. Lsu are never happy unless they have something to complain about.

I think most people believe "the next football coach" is already on campus.

If I guess you mean Cam Cameron? Hired by Les Miles. Who yes would be a FAR better AD than Alleva.

Johnny Jones coming to coach LSU in 2008-09 would have been an insane decision. He would have had one of the worst resumes of an SEC coach since Brady.

Exactly. There wasn't even a big push for him at the time. Not nearly at the level that there was this time around.

Meh, nothing much.

But I was never a huge fan of his starting from the HORRIBLE way he handled the Duke lacrosse situation.

No spine, will sway whereever public opposition goes as opposed to whatever is best for his organization.

The main names being tossed around were Anthony Grant, Travis Ford, Tony Bennett, and someone who I am forgetting. Even Trent was a surprise.

Nothing much?

You obviously made up your mind before he ever stepped foot on campus. Logical opinion of him you have there.

To be fair, I've been more distant from paying attention to the program for most of his tenure.

He hasn't done harm, but nothing stands out to me as far as enhancing what is here. Just standard changes that were typically overdue anyway.

Please enlighten me if I am wrong.

Compare his work to what Skip did in the similar amount of time......

Well, skip let pat Henry walk out the door, kept a lot of mid major coaches who should have been fired during his tenure, and did a pretty horrible job with all of the construction projects he was involved with. Plus we had the poke fiasco and probably more NCAA infractions, so I'm not sure how they're really that comparable. Oh yeah, joe Alleva gets hell for hiring Trent Johnson but skip got a pass for letting Sammy's cheese sticks laval run the baseball program into the ground

I'll also note that I don't dislike skip, but I have never understand the love for his body of work while there's so much disdain towards Alleva. In fact he installed the priority point system (which is necessary) that has led to LSU having to increase costs for tickets, which all the blame for whatever reason is directed at alleva

Pat Henry is 110% legit and it was one of the worst things of Skip's run.

A lot of the rest isn't exactly at his feet, ESPECIALLY the Chapman fiasco. Not like its part of his job to monitor all employee's free time and therefore is responsible for what they do with it.

Yeah. Trent a guy who had spent his entire career on the west coast was making a point to not recruit AAU kids and was successful because of lottery pick twins from Palo Alto.

Thats what Alleva thought would fit LSU. As someone else said I have absolutely no faith in his ability to hire a football coach.

Yeah he screwed up that hire. But he also gets credit for the Johnny Jones hire. Caldwell was good hire. Torina was a good hire.
