I watched every single game last year. Jones made every play he was supposed to at 1st and some he prolly shouldn’t have.
Nope. He used poor footwork on Milazzo's last inning throw at BAMA. If he had his right foot on the bag he would have likely been able to slide up the line and keep the ball in the field of play.

if he had his r foot on the bag and milazzo threw it wear he fouls he’d had his back to milazzo when he made the catch.
on a throw from
that side he’s supposed to creat an inside or outside throwing lane for the catcher. Milazzo needs to not put it right where the runner is going.

If the ball was right in front of the plate I wouldn't disagree. Milazzo fielded the ball closer to the mound, The throw was essentially one that was from the same angle as fielded by a third baseman only closer. Had he placed his right foot against the bag he would have been able to more easily slide toward home plate and possibly ( probably) keep the ball in play. He would have had more flexibility in movement by pushing off of his back (right ) foot and leading with his left foot while facing the throw. Instead Jones stood in a casual position with his left foot against the bag thinking it was a routine out. When the throw went awry he had to step over with his right foot which actually did result in his back toward the throw as you described.

Didn’t he top the headline during the MLB combine? The fact that his name still hasn’t been called is really puzzling and makes you wonder if anything happened between the combine and the draft.
It’s the baseball draft. He either had too high of a number for teams to match or he actively told teams not to draft him.

He's a R/R 1B, that's all you need to know.
The first R/R 1B taken in the draft was round 14
eta: and he had a 26k%

Everything you’re saying is correct with the exception when the ball is between the catcher and the mound.
The first basemen is supposed to give the person throwing as big a target as possible. and the player throwing is supposed to know to err on the side of too far inside the line vs throwing it at the runner or outside.
Where do you think his left foot should have been?
