What happened with Jones?

Didn’t he top the headline during the MLB combine? The fact that his name still hasn’t been called is really puzzling and makes you wonder if anything happened between the combine and the draft.

If you’re a draft eligible sophomore, it doesn’t make sense to leave for less than a million dollars. He obviously hasn’t found a team yet that was willing to pay enough to make him give up his junior year. It may still happen. Draft position isn’t as relevant as you think.

Yeah I wonder if that’s the case cuz even if teams didn’t meet his number doesn’t mean someone is gonna give a try.

He probably had a high number. But he isn’t something special in tools. He is a 1 tool guy currently power. Right handed 1b not a high priority. Plus his k rate needs to come down.

Just about every single Top 10 round pick has pre-negotiated a number with the team drafting them, this is why essentially every Top 10- round pick has signed in the last few years. Teams do not want to waste a Top 10 round pick so they will not draft a guy unless they know he will sign.
Jones had a number and it wasnt met, simple as that as to why he wasnt drafted. Herring had a number met by the Yankees, this is why he was drafted.

If guys like Herring and Jones don't receive good offers. They should come back to the team. I don't think they would lose draft stock. They would maintain or improve for the 2025 draft.
