November 12, 1994, USM 20, LSU 18 - Curley Hallman's last season. I've been to every home game since. But at the time, things were so bad that I stayed home and painted cabinets in the kitchen. It was the smallest Death Valley crowd since 1974 (announced attendance was 51,718, but LSU officials estimated the actual crowd was closer to 40,000). To date, Hallman is the only LSU coach since the formation of the SEC to have never tallied a winning record or coached in a bowl game.

This.

LSU fired Hallman (effective at the end of the season) after this game and actually won its last two games with Hallman on the sideline. LSU had winning seasons the next three years after Hallman's firing.

Losing to Colorado State at home in 92 had to be up there as well.

That was Colorado State's first win of the season! Col State had already lost to Colorado, Idaho, and Fresno State.

This was when LSU football hit rock bottom.

Even with the minuscule crowd, the thunderous boos as a reaction to Andre LeFleur's FG miss on LSU's last offensive play rocked the stadium almost as bad as the Earthquake Game six years earlier.

Ugh...this game. Didn't the USM kicker make one from near 50, then LaFleur kicked dirt and one of his usual line drives on the final play from about 51 or so? Miserable game.

That was the worst game ever. I didn't think anything could have been worse than the loss to Bama the week before, but then, like many other times, Curley proved me wrong.

Y'all have all been wrong so far.

DATE LOCATION RESULT

Nov.27,1992 Fayetteville, Ark. Arkansas 30, LSU 6

This butt kicking on a freezing cold night not only culminated a 2-9 season, 1-7 in league play, but is also remembered for the lone leather-lunged fan left in the L.S.U. section that waited around to scream this at Hallman as the coach left the field: "Curley! We've hit rock bottom!! ROCK BOTTOM!! Curley, do you hear me? WE'VE HIT ROCK BOTTOM!!!"

Don't know an actual low point. We were average or 500% at best. Spurrier made a mokerry of the SEC and things have changed

Miami ohio loss sucked pretty bad

That was 1986, and Miami actually was a conference champion that year.

The USM game was the worst for me, because there just seemed to be little hope for a turnaround at that moment. I remember it was cold and rainy. The crowd was the smallest in recent memory (other than the strange USC "road game" last season). All hope of a bowl was also gone, at that point and Hallman's firing seemed imminent. The fact that it was another close loss (just like A&M, Auburn, and USC) just made it worse.

This game was the low for me. I was at the 58-3 UF game, but that team bounced back to beat Bama and OM and almost make a bowl. And we knew there was talent in the program and hope of LSU bouncing back after DiNardo. The USM game was the worst.

I was there for Hallman's first game- at Georgia in 1991. We lost 31-10 and I remember how terrible we looked, in every way. Far too many penalties, no emotion, sloppy play, just nothing. We looked very poorly coached, and I was shocked.

Turns out that was an accurate predictor of the next few years.

Sorry, my mistake on Earl Bruce, cooper years...but still say losing to a solid USM team not as bad as loss to bad CSU team

none of those three, wtf you talking about? the Interception game was the 90's pretty much for LSU. It's one of the worst three losses in LSU History.

This. Jamie Howard got death threats after the game. It was the lowest of the low.
