What Exactly is the Deal With Kenny Hilliard

my 2 cents

he tiptoes through the holes. he runs like a scatback instead of the beast he is. Its almost like he is trying to pop every run for a big gain instead of getting 4 yards. If he would get physical and run like Earl Campbell, he would triple his touches

Poor vision, lack of patient, decreased agility due to bad weight, no cut to the edge and sloppy footwork, loss of confidence...Do I need to list out more? I think these already say enough. For whatever reason, he regressed a lot from his freshman year, which is sad to witness.

i never thought he had the same leg drive as the others...yeah, he is a big back, but he doesnt sink his hips and drive through people like he should. He tries to use his weight to run people over, doesnt always work that way (he would have to start out in the pistol to be effective..)

i just never thought he was all that great, Hester had leg drive..

IMO Blue is the one who least allows the play to develop. He gets the ball and immediately takes off full speed straight ahead and while it's usually good for a few yards, he never breaks long runs because he is ahead of his blockers and never makes a cut once he passes the los

He is built like a LB. I like that idea.

Exactly!

It looks like the same slide that Justin Vincent had after his freshman season.............................Ironically, Vincent is on the sidelines now with the coaching staff.

I'll agree with Mr. Brooks. It seem to me that he lately always runs at a time when his blockers have failed. This has happened over and over again. To me it doesn't seem to be his fault. If the line would give him a crease you all would be giving him praise.

THIS. I have 5 yr old boy/girl twins. I've been 3rd or 4th string since. I can't pick up the tough yds like I used to.

No doubt! At LSU its the Sophmore Slump or the Junior Jinx. Freshman always seem to come out the gate fast.

There are runners who instinctively can find what seam there is and attack it with leverage. Some are also much better at setting up blocks (Hill ). There are others Hilliard, Ingram who can not see the seam and react quick enough. It's what seperates the great from the average, there are no monster holes anymore.

Blue? Really? You thought he was good this past season? I don't totally blame him because of the injury but eesh.

eta: just saw this was a bump.

Really sad for Blue. His injury really set him back. He did not have the drive or burst he did in the past. He was on a roll at the end of his sophomore year and beginning of junior year. That's a tough injury for a running back to come back from and play the same way. Adrian Peterson was a rare case.
