saw him filling up his gas tank at the Exxon on airline....

actually I blame the coaches and others more than him, he was a kid, made some poor choices, never knew him to be a punk or bad guy...sort of like the Tepper hate or the Jamie Howard hate....sometimes one person gets blamed for something they were only a small part of.

I suppose you mean particularly Roy Williams ( Kansas coach back then) who took Lester Earl to Kansas and made LSU & Dale Brown looked so bad. Now that I live in NC, seeing & hearing Roy Williams on TV/radio always make me sick and remind me of the NCAA sanction/probation LSU Basketball had to suffer after the "Lester Earl scandal".

I think he is still playing for Kansas or North Carolina. From what I could tell the NCAA granted him unlimited eligibility.

Yep- if Kansas and NC never won another basketball game it would still be too many. And Roy Williams- what a pathetic excuse of a human being. Plays up this hyper-ethical image and how his teams do things the right way, recruit right, etc. and then when you find out ths truth about his standards...

He can't be run out of coaching soon enough.

I liked Corey Powell better. He was the real star on that 96 Glen oaks team

More than your year's salary, likely.

Pre-injury Lester Earl was a tremendous athlete, junior year he was a sub 50 sec 400m guy and a 48-ft triple jumper without trying too hard.

I honestly thought he also had great potential as a track guy, especially since he never improved his actual basketball skills.

My first time to ever meet/see LE was at an Outkast Concert at the LSU Union Theater his Freshman year. He was walking around in a track suit and listening to his walkman (or whatever it was called then) and rapping along with Master P's "Ice Cream Man". That year, I had no idea just how awful LSU basketball was going to be and how overrated he was.

Weeks after, a friend of mine and his buddies got into a fight with Bill Walton's son, Nabors, Louis Earl, and a few others. Safe to say that no one really respected LSU basketball and Lester Earl may have harbored some ill feelings that no one treated him like Kevin Faulk, Herb Tyler, or Brandon Larson.

Those names made me laugh quite a bit... I vaguely remember Nabors. I do rememer Louis being one of our better players on a terrible team though. I think he came back w/ an exhibition team and stomped our arse single handedly a few years after leaving LSU.
