What does the cease and desist order really mean?

obviously, he can’t make LSU not use the number 5, so what does this really mean?

Does it mean they can’t display his Heisman in the trophy case with his name on it?

Does it mean they have to stop selling his jersey in the gift shop? This means he will stop making any profits from the selling of the jersey.

Does it mean they can no longer use his highlights in any LSU promo videos?

Does it mean they have to take down any and all evidence that he even attended LSU?

Is this what he really wants? Does he want his entire LSU footprint erased?

LSU, should say, “OK, we will take everything down, like you never came to LSU”. I am sure that will hurt JD’s ego, pocket book, and legacy more than it will affect LSU in recruiting and/or sales.

“Does it mean they can’t display his Heisman in the trophy case with his name on it?”

NO

“Does it mean they can no longer use his highlights in any LSU promo videos?”

NO

“Does it mean they have to take down any and all evidence that he even attended LSU?”

NO

“Is this what he really wants? Does he want his entire LSU footprint erased?”

Someone should ask him to clarify.

But there is a difference between historical Jayden Daniels and Jayden Daniels the current person. He doesn’t have the control of his historical NIL that he thinks he does. If LSU wants to out a JD highlight reel on the Jumbotron… JD can’t stop them.

If LSU wants to sell jerseys with his name on it… that’s a different thing.

To me, there's two different issues here and posters are confusing them. The curse and desist is concerning NIL. As to the jersey #, he's expressing disappointment.

I could be wrong but I don’t think there is legal recourse to stop LSU using photos of Daniels in an LSU uniform.

And hell, how can you stop LSU, in recruitment and advertising, from saying “Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels played here.”?

You are just stating facts. You are not saying that he endorses LSU.

Correct

No, they can do that because that trophy was issued to the University. That is part of the whole Heisman event, and it as well as the use of it belongs to the university.

If it has his name on it, probably so.

That may be a gray area, not sure.

Nope

While I don't know what is in his mind, I would say no. This situation reflects poorly on all parties, IMO.

This is the only thing that he can "control." This isn't a hill I would die on because its not going to age well for him. This is a terrible look. Now again, I believe this is his mother but its still a terrible look and 1 that could ruin the relationship. Disappointing this is what we have come to. The entitlement and pettiness is so stupid.
