I saw almost no tailgating on Nicholson (from Nicholson Ext to Burbank because of the parking ban) and traffic was still terrible after the game. If you live close to campus its impossible to get home with all of the street closures.

Is hanging out on campus for a few hours after the game the only way to avoid the clusterf*ck? What do ya'll think of the new parking/contraflow strategy?

The first two games were also somewhat of "throw-aways".

I'm sure tailgating will pick up, especially with SEC games starting up.

ETA: as far as parking and contraflow, as long as you park on a side of campus where you are planning on leaving from, there really isn't a problem. Now, if you try parking on the west side and need to head east postgame, well, good luck with that.

We didn't have a problem getting out. We were parked in lot 104 but we did stay til the end so most were gone.

Contraflow all the way to Lee is an absolute joke. Poor people who live on Burbank and Lee and River Rd can't get to their homes....Parking has been fine, but the cops not letting people who live in certain areas past the baracades is just pitiful...it feels like 2 hours of martial law in BR

Here is what I don't understand.

For Sam Houston, I left lot 401 at 10:00 turned southbound in the northbound lane. Contraflow continued all the way to Bluebonnet. Made it home to Gonzales in 45 minutes.

For ULM , I left lot 401 at 10:00 was unable to turn south in the northbound lane because cars were being allowed to go northbound. apparently contraflow had ended? made the u turn to head south in the southbound lane but was forced to turn onto Nicholson ext into bumper to bumper traffic where it took me 60 minutes to get to the intersection of highland and Lee. This time the trip to Gonzales took 1 hour 20 minutes.

I live in kenilworth and the cops would not let me get onto highland. Luckily, nobody realized there were side streets off of stanford that lead the Perkins so I just cut through the 1st chance I got. Only took about 20 minutes to get home. Those stuck on stanford..sucks

I don't understand forcing traffic off of Nicholson onto Nicholson ext. what is that supposed to accomplish?

They have fricked up Dalrymple with to much traffic while not allowing enough traffic to take the Acadian/Stanford exit.. Not allowing people to have some choice on which corridor they want to take out is part of the problem. In the past you if you were parked within the campus boundaries you could get to area you wanted to flow out.. Not anymore.. To many barricades forcing everybody to the same choke points.

I parked in the levee lot, and I left at the end of the game. I was stuck on River Road & then Lee for 2 hours last night. In all my years of coming to games I have never experienced anything like that.

I honestly don't see a big difference in traffic at all...still basically need to stay put for an hour after game ends to miss most of it...

one thing that I do miss is the tailgating setups along nicholson...I used to really look forward so seeing some of them (LSU Hearse) as I walked to the game and now that is gone...not sure what the point of the rule against parking along nicholson is...

Traffic is going to be terrible. What do you expect with 100,000 people?

It's complete bs that they used traffic as an excuse to stop the tailgating on Nicholson (who's gonna tailgate where you can't park?). The lack of parking/tailgating on Nicholson has not improved traffic at all.

Alleva still sucks for this decision.

I park in lot 103 and had to wait over an hour after the game was over to be able to go south on Nicholson. Closing traffic off at the corner of North Stadium Drive and Nicholson is some bullshite. But hey, I stayed for the entire game! Lesson learned.

I couldn't get pluckers or howies to deliver to me last night because of the stupid traffic/contraflow. Had to settle for Jimmy John's
