It worries me some that a quarterback does not want to throw the ball in a crucial situation.

Y'all can spin that quote anyway you want, but a quaterback at any level of competition that is truly a team leader wants the ball in his hands in a win or loose situation.

That's a big, stinking pile. :beatdeadhorse:

You're the one who is spinning post-game comments to fit your own pre-conceived notions. You made your mind up already cause you were in the huddle, you were on the sideline, you were right there on the field in the flow of the game in the heat of battle. Like hell you were, you're just an armchair guesser whimsically weaving speculative thoughts around post-game comments.

Prove it

1) Prior to that series Scott was averaging 3 yds per carry. His last 4 carries had been for 3 yds, 2 yds, 2 yds, and no gain
2) We had 3 OLinemen puking their guts out
3) Other than Scotts individual effort, the play was for zero yards, setting up a 50 yd FG, on the road
4) The WRs were wide open all day, Ga is ranked 87th in pass defense
5) Ga was only allowing 2.6 yds per carry

None of that should lead you to believe we were going to get within better FG range by rushing

We WERE ALREADY in FG range. What we accomplished by rushing was to take a sack out of the equation. Being that we had been sacked 6 times already and UGA was likely to be coming after us, it was a good strategic move. I'm sure we didn't expect to get a TD but to get a nice gain to better setup a possible FG.

Look at his own words: "I didn't want to pass the ball in that situation" He wanted the game in someone elses hands.

Duh...could he have actually begun to learn to read defensive sets a wee little bit and perhaps picked up on some defensive trends in certain offensive down and distance situations? Ya think?

We don't know one way or the other, but let us not hesitate to question the moxy and courage of our winning QB, righto? For crying out loud, with the help of his entire offense, JJ only led his team to two late 4th quarter TDs to come from behind on the road and under intense pressure with only 6 previous starts total up 'til yesterday ... but now he's a coward?

I sorta agree, but remember also that we were down the previous drive, and drove 88 yds to get the lead back. He accounted for 70 of those yds, 54 in the air. Or the drive against UW to effectively put the game away, which was mostly on him. So it's not like he can't make plays with the game on the line. But I mean damn, did the int's last yr warp our young QBs' minds?

Here is where I might open up a can of worms, but one thing that you could say for Lee, even though his confidence was often misplaced, he was never afraid of throwing the ball and just shook of an interception and moved on. Maybe this was wrong, but at least he had confidence in himself.

...and yet it was the right call at the right time, 8 points and a come from behind win on that play rather proves it. Scotts determined run wasn't just "luck".

5-0 and yet another week to work on execution, correct mistakes and another game day's worth of incredible on the road experience in a very hostile setting for a 19 year old QB...

Is this managing the game or is this attitude what is holding the offense back? Just curious as to how everyone would interpret this.

It worked, so I say he made a pretty good decision.

He does not seem to lack confidence, but those are not the comments I want to hear from the starting QB..

I certainly admire JL's determination to fight through the awful situation he ended up in last year ... never more than when he stuck to it and engineered that comeback starting very late in the 3rd and throughout the 4th quarter against North Texas after an utterly miserable game up to that point.

However, you have no clue what JJ's confidence level as LSU's starting QB is or isn't based on a single post-game comment. It's all purely speculative by a bunch of folks who weren't on the field in the flow of the game, let alone on LSU's sideline or up in the press box.

You don't know, you're just engaging in speculative guessing.

P.S. The ball was in JJ's hands on that play insomuch as he took the snap and he executed his part of it.

Those comments remind me of that time Jordan was going to shoot the game winning 3, but convinced his coach that Will Perdue would be open for the lay up.
Oh wait...

The great ones always want to make the play.

not this.

I am glad he didn't want to ME ME ME the ball.

A sure win over an iffy TD with the possibility of an int???

I will take that maturity every time.

Yep, speaking about MJ, I watched his HoF induction speech. To hear him tell it, he did it all himself, cause it was all about me, me, me. What an embarrassing, sorry contrast to the other deserving inductees speech.

Yep, that's what a me, me, me superstar mentality gets you ... a lifetime of letting everyone know it's all about me, me, me.

bullshite.
