Credit for picking up the pieces and keeping this team focused. Possible 6-1 finish is nothing short of amazing considering the early season firing of Miles

You idiots need to wake up. We probably have our best solution to the coaching problem right on campus in Orgeron.

The list is simply HC's that have proven they could run a program better than Coach O did and all of them have. You could technically list every coach that has a .500 percentage or better and they'd all look better than Coach O on paper.

Fisher? Don't want.

Going back to 2006 there have been 5 coaches that have won a championship.. We just fired one of them and you're telling me you don't want 1 of the remaining 4?

give it to him for a 3 year deal that can be bought out easily if need be.

If he's the best solution possible why are you insinuating that he have a low buyout in case he fails?

Coach O's greatest asset is motivation and recruiting.
The results speak for themselves.

So he took a team that should have contended for the playoffs and beat the following:

Missouri 3-7 (1-5)
Southern Miss 5-5 (3-3)
Ole Miss 5-5 (2-4)
Arkansas 6-4 (2-4)

That's his big accomplishment so far.

You say something good about the offense and you say well O does not know anything about offense. You say something good about the defense thats not O thats Aranda. Tell me this what the frick did Miles know when he was coach? Your coach does not have to be an expert in all phases of the game to be a great coach. The man has single handedly saved our season. Give the man some credit. If we get a great OC, OL coach and maybe a qb coach I think we might be set.

Good post. The HC has executive responsibilities for big decisions and overall team management, but if you have a great set of assistant coaches, he just needs to be a leader. Coach O has learned how to be a leader, and the players and coaching staff are buying in to what he's selling.

Love what he's done with LSU, and when LSU guts the Gators you're gonna love it too, if you don't already.

Sorry but I expected LSU to have more offense against Bama than a very bad Miss St team. And they didn't get shut out.

That team currently has the 4th worst YPC allowed out of every team in the past 17 years. LINK

Ok, well he fricked up the clock and our timeout situations against Alabama. So in the one game where the chess match part of being an executive came in, he failed.

MSU was shut out in the first half. It was 30-0 and the game was essentially over at that point. If you want to give MSU credit for one garbage time field goal, I guess that's your prerogative.

Simple question for pro O crew. Do you think he's more valuable than Aranda? Pretty sure that no reasonable person could say so. If he's not, how do you make him HC and not Aranda?

The two aren't mutually exclusive. Because of the kind of HC Orgeron seems to be, Aranda is ABSOLUTELY VITAL. However, Aranda's intellect and obvious proficiency with Xs and Os on defense doesn't automatically make him a star as a head coach. As evidence, I give you Derrick Mason at Vandy. No one who watches that man's defenses play can doubt his accuman as a defensive coach, and when Vandy fires him, there will be a bidding war for his services as a DC. Yes, I know it's Vandy. However, he walked into a better situation than anyone's ever had there following Franklin. They are more serious about being competitive in football than they've ever been.

None of this means Aranda will fail as a head coach. I think it is far more likely that he will be great, given time and experience. However, there are no guarantees, even for a top shelf tactician, and especially when they don't have previous experience running a smaller program first.

All that said, I understand where you are going with this. It's hard to ignore the fact that we potentially have a future rock star on our staff. He definitely has that look.

They still had 274 yards to our 125. And they are a cellar dweller this year.

What is O's signature win this year? Is it the moral victory some people are declaring because our defense played well against Alabama?

That's true, but they didn't do a whole lot more than LSU with those yards. So I take it you're not a fan of keeping Coach O?

I wish LSU would have made BDP the coach so we wouldn't by seriously considering hiring Cajun Bill Stewart.

He already beat out Miles for the LSU job. Mission accomplished.

I'm not against him getting the job. I'm just not completely sold yet. Except for the Arkansas game, we have no quality wins with him as head coach. I give him credit for holding the team together, keeping morale up and keeping the team motivated. The most impressive thing about the team this season has undoubtedly been the defense and I give Aranda the credit for that.

Damn, that's harsh. The only game Coach O's Tigers didn't win is against the one team no one is beating this season. Not his fault, IMHO.

But Peveto as an alternative? Dude.
