re: What do you do with Chad Jones now?

Yes. I'm pretty much ready to move JM to center and pencil in Chad Jones in left. This could fix one of the last few problems in the batting lineup.
Has LSU ever had a baseball team this fast? I don't think so.

No,no, no, no. Son is Freshman...no playing time yet. Should have stats this summer in wood bat league.

As I said before...Chad Jones will never see the batter's box again...two words: Mikie Mahtook. A better support player would have been Senior Gaudet. Coach made a bad mistake.
So, Gaudet was going to play 1B over Ochinko?
Or, was he going to start at DH over Dean?
The only think about Gaudet that I think would help is that he is a right handed batter, which we could use. And, that is a hindsight comment. At the time, I would have made the exact same decision.
FYI, Mahtook is starting every game, and LSU is STILL platooning Landry and Pontiff. I think there is room for Chad Jones if he comes back swinging the bat well.
Additionally, while I believe that your son may have a "better swing", I would be willing to bet that he doesn't generate the bat speed or the power that Chad Jones does. In other words, Jones' talent dwarfs your sons refined swing. I also get the feeling that many on here would chuckle at the level that your son plays.

Holy shite!

Maybe his son is the answer to problems in middle relief.

I think the fact that he refuses to say even what school his son plays for shows that he is full of shite. If his son has a better swing than Chad Jones (who has received a good amount of playing time on the #1/#2 team in the nation before football began) would mean that he would be getting considerable amount of PT at the college he attends. Unless his son is Taylor Dugas I think he's full of shite (and his last name being guidry probably suggest otherwise)...
My guess. He is a ULL homer. His kid is a walk-on on their crappy arse baseball team that just so happened to beat LSU in a midweek game (please let them meet up with us in a regional).
P.S- Tell your son to strap on the pads and meet CJ at the 50 yard line of Death Valley. Let's see who wins that battle.

Is he for sure coming back? I thought I heard someone at the GA game say he wouldn't be back because he needed to concentrate on his grades?

quote:I have no idea about that. Last I heard he was supposed to be coming back after spring football, but that was a while back and I am (literally) nowhere near an inside source.

How do you know? What makes you such an authority? You don't know the first thing about this guy's son, except for the fact that he plays baseball. Chad Jones is a football player playing baseball. Why would you automatically assume that he has a more powerful swing than this guy's son?

Chad Jones could probably whip my son with one hand tied behind his back, but since when is beating someone up a statistic in baseball?
Posted on 4/14/09 at 12:11 pm to Godfather1
Know? I said I'd be willing to bet. Do you want to take me up on that bet? If I'm wrong it is because he understated his son's Ability.
But, I "know" in the same way I know that chad jones isn't the solution to our middle relief issue and that Leon Landry isn't a 30/30 player. You on the other hand...

"Chad Jones will never see..."
Bad Cat:
How much do you want to bet?
Bad Cat:
Keep him on the gridiron!
immature college geeks, don't you love 'em

Perhaps you should get your humor meter fixed. You obviously don't know a joke when you see one.
BTW, are you Moneyg's alter or something?

You're right, but please get your facts straight in order to back up your argument.
A) Our outfield/bench is not that deep so CJ will play
B) Gaudet is hurt that is why he was left off the roster
C) CJ definitely has enough talent to warrant a roster spot on the baseball team (He was a 10th rd pick in the MLB Draft). Hell his speed on the bases alone would warrant a spot. It took JM a little while to adjust to the college game, but his tremendous talent eventually became obvious. CJ is in the same mold.
IMO, it would have been silly to NOT have CJ on the baseball roster!

Players like J. Mitchell and C. Jones come to the college game with less baseball savvy and experience than players like Mahtook and Dugas (alabama). I would say Mahtook and Dugas each would easily have at least 1000's more at bat and game situation experiences than Mitchell and Jones, because of their extensive youth baseball participation. You can't make all that up with athleticism, alone. Maybe in time they will catch up, but in the mean time LSU will suffer the occasional screw up because of it.

i'd put him at free safety on the football team...just a hunch..

Posted on 4/15/09 at 1:20 pm to ProjectP2294
Gaudet sucks he shouldve got cut I pitched against him in high school and in college. Just because he set delgado hr record dosent mean anything. If he was playin at lsu he couldnt hit his weight.
