Youre right man. Dinardo is the best we can do....Those Charlie Mac and Dietzel years....we were never really elite. We cant get to the level of Florida and Florida state. We just need to accept where we are at...beat Ole Miss Mississippi State and hey every 4-5 years maybe we will win the west

well this is his first year with any semblence of talent so why don't we let it play out first huh?
And who is responsible for the level of talent?

Trent. But I feel like we have some talented guys now so why don't we see if we can fricking play? We had 2 really bad years. I'm not arguing that. Guys that looked good didn't pan out. Last year we should have been playing a line up of:
Spencer
Turner
Derenbecker
Warren
White
on paper 2 years ago that wouldn't have looked too damn bad and like a step in the right direction. But it didn't turn out well. I apologize to you if you thought Trent Johnson was going to get John Wall, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Austin Rivers, or Kyrie Irving.

People confuse going in different directions with missing out. We went after Felix and you can say we missed out on him. You can't make that same argument for certain players at OK lite or St. Joes. In retrospect, we could use Galloway, but we went in another direction. That shite happens.

Please show me where I'm wrong. Brady's teams were never as offensively undisciplined as Johnson's teams, even with Bright and Hudson doing their thing. Antonio Hudson would jack up some bad shots, but it wasn't as team-wide an issue as it is with this team. I'm all about letting your players shoot with confidence, but our shot selection is downright terrible most of the time.
The Brady recruit who had the worst habits was Bo Spencer, who was allowed to develop that habit under Trent Johnson. Tack Minor was pretty bad, but he wasn't given the minutes that our current chucker is given.
I know some of you people hate Brady with all of your little hearts, but it's blinding you to how bad our current coach is performing. Brady, to this point, is a far more successful coach than TJ at LSU. It really does suck, but it really is true.

Shot selection is my biggest problem with TJ's teams to this point. But, as long as he keeps recruiting good players, that won't be a big problem.

But we didn't have those players. Trent Johnson has had just as much program turnover as Brady, which is one of the reasons fans gave for firing him. Hell, Trent can't even keep his best players for more than one year. That's not a good sign.
Whoever said we expected to get those players? That's a total strawman argument that isn't relevant to a single post in the thread.

It just seems like it because as of now his teams were more talented. It was easier for him to just throw a ball out there and let them play. I never thought he was a good x's and o's coach. And you just threw out so many examples and compared them to just stringer, who had one terrible game against arkansas

Why are people even still discussing Brady. frick. The guy hasn't coached here in forever, get over it.
Posted on 2/6/12 at 1:28 pm to Jester
Dude, no one is arguing that Trent hasn't been setting the world on fire up until this point. But if we finish with 7 or 8 SEC wins, we should land Rico Gathers and we'll be in great position for a tourny berth next year. Hell, if we start playing and beating the teams we should, we could make the NCAA's this year with a win over a Vandy or a sweep of Bama and State at the PMAC. Let this season play out since we have some guys on the team now who can actually ball.

Derenbecker was one of our best players? bullshite dude. He was a one dimensional shooter with zero perimeter defensive ability and a total liability on that end. We're ten times the defensive team without him and one of the few reasons we're better this year.

you're out of your element here son. What everyone here is telling you is that it finally looks like we have some talent on the court so let these guys play and see what happens. It was time for Brady to go and he's gone. Hell, you should know I'm not Trent's biggest fan but to ignore the fact that Hamilton, O'Bryant, and Hickey can play and w are improving is beyond ignorant. If we can get Turner playing every night like he did against Arkansas we'll be in really good shape.

Okay, name the "good players" Johnson has recruited. JOB, Hamilton, Hickey. That's about it. The only others that warrant mentioning are D-becker (who bailed after one year) and Turner (who has gotten WORSE after a year of TJ coaching).
I'm not one of the ones that thinks he should be fired now, but this program is far from stable, much less in good shape.

If he is talking about derenbecker i give up

Doesn't sound that way.

Yes, he's talking about Derenbecker. Blows my mind.

Correct, and possibly Turner. Soooooo....they are all on this team right now, the 3 you mentioned all in their 1st year here. So, give him a little more time.

and guess what. THEY ARE ALL ON THE TEAM NOW AND WILL BE NEXT YEAR.
Add in the fact that I think Turner will come out of this sophomore slump and we'll bring in Malik Morgan and possibly Rico Gathers and that looks like a damn fine team.
