Nobody is ignoring that we have improved, but we are still far from good. Hell, I bet some of Smoke Laval's teams showed improvement over previous years. When you are fricking putrid, it is pretty easy to improve.

A good consistent scorer/SG is all this team is missing in my opinion. Add in the current players future experience and this has the makeup to be a pretty damn good team.

Okay, if he wasn't one of our better players, why did he log so many minutes? Was Trent incapable of recognizing the better talent behind him? The only LSU players that are better are Hickey, JOB, and Hamilton. Turner is probably better, but he has regressed badly this year.

Derenbecker was highly regarded out of high school. The state has been extremely weak as far as talent goes. Derenbecker simply didn't work out. We were horrid on defense last year and he was a major reason for that.
So basically, we're fricked if we do, fricked if we don't. Don't sign MD, you complain about his recruiting. Sign him and play him, and it's an indictment against TJ because DD is too slow to play perimeter defense.

Sorry, I said I was leaving..... but I had to interject here:
By what measure?
SEC record through the first four years? Trent's ALREADY won more SEC games (21) than Brady did (20) in his first four, and Trent has (in my mind) 5-6 wins remaining THIS season.
Overall wins? Both at 62, so Trent could lose out and be no worse than even.
NCAA Tournament? Brady went to the sweet sixteen (beating SE Missouri State and Texas, losing to Final Four bound Wisconsin), Johnson to the second round (beating #9 Butler...(ever heard of them?), before losing to national champion North Carolina. IN North Carolina.) Sounds like a wash to me.
So, what's the measure? The "eyeball test?" "Personality?"
Come the frick on.
People need to stop IMAGINING LSU's basketball past and LOOK at LSU's basketball past.

And you've also been consistent in bringing up John Brady at every available opportunity. He's not our coach anymore, not sure if you realize that.

People will always compare the current coach to the former. If you can't handle this, avoid the Rant. I don't want Brady back, but I don't think we should be paying Trent Johnson twice as much to do half as well.

Trent makes like 400k more than what Brady did. Based on his accomplishments at Stanford and Nevada, thats what it was going to take to bring him in.
Take a deep breath, step back, and lets see what happens here on out. Brady was a fricking dolt and didn't do shite outside of 3 or so good seasons. We even gave him 10 years. The program is getting better. If we shite the bed here on out this season, Trent will likely be gone.
