He was fired before he had a chance to enjoy the benefit of his work in recruiting.
Stovall's tenure was a roller-coaster:
'80 7-4
'81 3-7-1
'82 8-3-1
'83 4-7
Over his last 14 games, we were 4-10. That's why he wasn't given the chance to enjoy his recruiting.
He certainly left some good talent but it is incorrect to say "most" of Arnsprager and Archer's playes were leftovers. Archer began as HC in '87. Other than some RS seniors, none would've been Stovall's recruits.

Are you including the forfeit losses in Miles win percentage ?

So you got one 9-3 season in with a win over #1 Florida… could’ve been worse.

First, there are no forfeited losses, just vacated wins. The other team/coach does not get the win added to their totals.
Second, I go by what happened on the field. So yes, I always count vacated wins when doing this sort of exercise.

The '05 season was disrupted by Katrina and Rita and I think we played like 10 straight weeks going into the SECCG. Are you sure it was "criminal" that we didn't win it all?
If it was just the 2005 season as a whole then yes I would agree with you that there are valid reasons to excuse not winning it. However, when you combine 2005 & 2006 it is criminal that we did not win a Championship in either of those 2 seasons.
Auburn should have been a victory and we would have won the rematch vs Florida and mopped the floor with OSU in the Championship. In 2005 we should never have lost to Tenn. And yes playing every that many consecutive games is taxing on the players however, again its not just the 2005 season in and of itself. A championship should have been won in either of those 2 seasons.
