re: What did Vitello do to upset the rant?

I must’ve missed where sumlin won anything close to the orange bowl or finished just outside the playoffs
I guess you don't remember the year they went 11-2, beat Bama, and won the Cotton bowl over Oklahoma, and a top 5 ranking in a year that certainly would have left them "just outside of the playoffs" if it had existed yet. Am I mistaken?
Jimbo's best work prior to last year at A&M was getting a ref aided win over LSU. I'm sure their fans were super impressed when he followed that up with a 50-7 loss the next year. 'Cause nothing says "progress" like a 50-7 waxing, and then finishing "just short" of the playoffs in a year when half the league was neutered by players sitting out.

Anyway back to the topic…the fact that you derailed it shows you can’t really debate the point at hand btw
I didn't derail anything. You called me an idiot for not wanting Sully, based on his "track record", and yet you don't seem to be following his recent track record. Which brought me to Jimbo Fisher. How about Les Miles? I can go on with examples of what "track record" does fora coach who is failing in the here and now.
quote:
You sound like you fear expectations that come with success
What does this psycho babble even mean? You accuse me, on one hand, of being an idiot because I don't want the guy who you think is this great coach. Which would seem to indicate that you believe my expectations are too high.
But then, on the other hand, you say I'm afraid of expectations that come with success? That's not even remotely coherent.

I’m sorry I called you an idiot. That was out of line.
Let’s unite and support coach Bianco

And I'm sorry you are so obtuse about this concept.
I don't want Bianco. You can stop with that pettiness.

Yep he reminded me of Billy Martin. But is that a bad thing. He actually kept his head in the game from pitch 1. CPM just hangs his head. I'd rather play for him than CPM. His energy level is through the roof. It reflects to the players.

I think he can be fired up and defend his players without looking so petty. But, if he wants to come here, I can deal with it if he wins. He's been in my top two for a while.
I don't have to like the guy.

Don’t call me names. That really hurts
And to help you understand, I was saying you don’t Sully bc you’re afraid of the expectations that come with that kind of success. A coach like that would be expected to win in Omaha. It’s not a difficult concept to grasp.
Your expectations seem far from “too high” so you should be happy with the new coach bc it won’t be anyone nearly as accomplished

Vitello would absolutely take the LSU job but we don’t want him for some reason. It’s bianco now
Ahhhh- not so sure about that- at least not w/o throwing some way over the top offer. Think he’s what - I’m the $400k or so range now- and there is talk of bringing him the $1.5mm with a commitment to put a lot of capitol into the baseball program/facility upgrades. I think the only thing we or A&M did was maybe get more of a raise than he was already most likely getting. Not saying the dude is only getting a pay increase bc of threat of losing him - but would have to think, we not aggie hurt his salary discussions.

I didn't call you a name. Obtuse is a word to describe your behavior. It's not an ad hominem. But you knew that already. You just couldn't resist saying something pointless.

Dude... That is an embarrassing and IMPOSSIBLE concept to grasp. Because it isn't even a real concept coming from the perspective of a fan. HOW can a fan be afraid of success? I already stated that he is on the same downward trajectory that Mainieri has been on. That's right, I'm SUPER afraid of underachieving, and really terrified of going 0-2 in a regional and getting beat 19-1 by South Alabama.
I don't want him because I don't think he moves the needle. What success do I have to be afraid of? Am I going to be fired if LSU doesn't win? Hey, buddy, guess what? LSU IS expected to win in Omaha. LSU has 6 national titles. Did you know that? What did you think my expectations were? "LSU has won all these championships, and that's why I can't handle success. I want Smoke Laval". Get outta here with that nonsense.

Past accomplishments don't win now. I've already argued this point down to the bone. Let's bring Skip back, and let's go hire Bobby Bowden for football.
Better yet, let's keep Mainieri, because he has the same number of championships as Sully. I'm sure you aren't opposed to that, right? Since you're all about past accomplishments and status quo, which is exactly what we'd get with Sully.
It's a good thing you don't run the athletic department. We wouldn't have hired Skip, Saban, or Wade.

Winning changes everything! If he was in purple and gold with a top seed we all would be praising him for being passionate about his team.

If that dude won here and was passionate about it, y’all would get in line for it.::: stop kidding yourself.

this. They are butthurt because his team is sweeping our asses. He is everything I want in a coach. He should be the first choice but I know he wont be hired.

Actually, very often people on here complain because he isn't acting like Vitello. Isn't sticking up for his players, doesn't ask for a review, etc.
And everyone else complains that he's whining/sulking about something not going his way. Or did you think yelling at the umpires was the only thing people are talking about when they say Vitello is a whiner? Try harder with your fact checking, friend.
Fact checking? Are you saying that people haven't complained that Paul doesn't stick up for his players or should have asked for reviews but instead just sat there in the dugout? You are making blanket statements, I predicated my statement with very often because I have been on this site long enough to know someone will eventually complain about everything.
quote:quote:
They called him that for apologizing for complaining about them.
That's what SOME people complained about. Lots of others complained about the fact that he ever whined about the fans, in the first place. Again, try harder with your fact checking.
Fact checking again? The bulk of what I read was exactly what I stated. How far back do I go before I respond to something one here? Just curious.
quote:quote:
Eh, somebodies does but I don't think it's the guy you are responding too
You're half right. It's both him and you now. Not just the one.
Perhaps we both got off on the wrong foot here because I actually doubt either of us has an agenda that requires a narrative and, I suspect, neither does the person to whom you responded.
I think we got off on the wrong foot here. I was really just trying to say that he was correct that much of the upset is directly related to the fact that Vitello in not in P&G but instead in that gaudy orange color.
Gotta be honest though, I wouldn't mind Vitello as the next baseball coach. Also like Godwin and McDonnell. Looking forward to seeing where the coaching search goes and hope our Tigers can pull out the regional.
