What did the referee tell Ramos?
he probably told them he squeezes his pillow tight at night and it has an Alabama uniform painted on it.

So
A) Ramos was ultimately ready
B) This all sounds like stuff you would practice and be ready to execute with a play call. Not some new instruction the coach makes up on the fly right before the play.

You can easily lose 3 seconds downing the ball.
You telling me he couldn’t run the offense out there just like he did the kicking team and it would take them 3 seconds to spike the ball??? Look I belong Kelly whole heartedly but this take is a dumb as they come.

Well then next time the special team coach will have them in position.
They practice running off and on the field to kick all the damn time. He was PRECISELY given the right instruction and didn’t follow it. The ref likely told him “the clock starts on his whistle” which is did.

Kelly got mad because he clear as day told Ramos to be ready by the time the ref started winding the clock. Ramos, for whatever reason, was still doing his pre-kick prep steps when the ref blew the whistle to wind the clock. I could tell from my seats that he wasn't ready and was going to miss
100% accurate. End of discussion

Ramos was not ready, he was still going through his setup motions when the ball was snapped. That caused him to have to rush to the kick, which almost got blocked, and miss it.

I’m sure they probably do practice this exact scenario, but “make sure you’re set before the ref blows the whistle” is not rocket science.
Ramos fricked up. It is what it is. I’m sure he’ll learn from it.

You are not guaranteed to stop the clock on a spike within 3 seconds. Can it be done? Yes. But it’s a risky play.
If you spike the ball, you are relying on your team to get the snap off immediately, execute the spike, and the ref stop the clock before it hits 0:00. If you line up the FG unit, you just need the team to be set and get the snap off before the clock hits 0:00.
I really don’t understand why people are so convinced we should have spiked there. It’s much riskier than simply having your FG unit lined up for the kick when the clock starts. It would be different if the clock were actually still running from the previous play but you basically had a free timeout to get set up.

Tell that to Notre Dame.
They spiked the ball on their final drive on Saturday and the clock went from :12 to :09
