all of our fans are morons... sure i would take a lot of coaches out there, but its not like we can hire whoever we want. it doesnt work that way.

And there are people who post on this board who are so fruit for him they would cream their pants just at the idea of getting him back at LSU. Go figure.
exactly, saban hasnt won shite at bama yet and did not out coach miles on saturday. injuries and officiating gave bama the edge. and no i would not take him back.

you need to go back and read the OP and try to wrap your head around the big picture of this thread.
Yeah, I know you're looking for more proven guys, but the thing is there's not that many
All the talented coaches that people will throw out are the ones that are set in stone and aren't going anywhere, and every coach in football has at least one weakness that can be pointed out
BK has never given anyone any reason whatsoever that he can't be successful at any level of football he is put at, and there's not much arguing that

A mediocre at best coaching job,but he had long checked out on LSU before that season kicked off.
Then he checked out on Miami before his job was done there. If everything is not going his way or exactly as he likes it he quits.
The only question now is will he quit first on Bama or will his coaches and some of his players begin to quit on him first. It's going to happen because at some point they get tired of taking his mess. It usually happens after a championship. They put up with the junk to win, experience the high, then come down from it, and reality sets in. "I'm tired of this guy in my face just to make himself feel better."

Apparently based upon last night and today, he's either dead f@cking serious..or delusional.

Who is the guy that has his program where it should be year after year, always hires the best assistants, always recruits and lands the best players, and doesn't make the kind of in-game mistakes that are unacceptable to the many experts here?
Who is the guy that can run a program that always reloads, always contends for at least his Conference Championship and never has a "down" year?
no one fits that description

there are NONE
and the reason is simple, these are 19/20/21/22 yr players that are not professionals, they are at best part time employees, that get hurt, homesick, stupid and they will fail you.
Stoops/Mack/PC/Saban/Meyer/Tressel/Miles/ETC all have their detractors, they all have their weaknesses and none of them are perfect. But what separates the fans of today versus the fans of yesterday are higher expectations from expensive tickets and availability of information and outlets for their worthless opinions
Stoops was mentioned numerous times in this thread but he lost to Boise State in a BCS Bowl game, got destroyed by USC in another BCSCG Bowl game, got skunked by LSU in another BCSCG game and on and on. Yet he is the most acceptable candidate to some people in this thread, but he is NOT acceptable to some idiotic OU supporters. T
That is the point of this thread, imperfect fans demanding perfection when it doesn't exist

theres no way Miles is going anywhere. I think the better question is, who can we get to replace Crowton?

I'm pretty sure that most of them feel that if they could just get a little face time with Bill Belichick they could persuade him that LSU really is his dream job and that he could be happier here as an LSU god than he will ever be as an NFL god.

I dont give a frick what people say about our play makers, the best people players tto give us a chance to win were hurt and we lost.

You guys act as though Les Miles invented football.
Les Miles is not and should not be fired, he has done nothing to merit termination. Gary Crowton should be fired, on the other hand.
That said, if Miles went to Michigan or whatever, there are quite a few coaches that have much better resumes than Les Miles had prior to coming to LSU. I'm with Roar on this one, the same people who fought for DiNardo, Brady and Laval to the end, somehow envision Les Miles as the only qualified person to coach LSU. That's just sad to me.

spurrier would do well
He is a shell of his former self and would do nowhere near the job Miles does.
On, and by the way, he and Miles have an equal number of NC's.

what does that have to do with LM's resume and the way some fans feel about him NOW?

no one in this thread said anything even remotely like that

There is only a handful of coaches who can recruit on the level that Miles does. And none of them would be heading to LSU if Miles left.

I like Miles. Sort of. He apparently just has a problem managing the game. I bet he was also never a balance the check book type of guy.
LSU is a tough place to coach. I mean I think it takes a certain type of person to coach here. People say it's a tough place but let's be real, the guy could retire this year if need be at the rate he is making. To me that would be less pressure. It's like hitting the lottery for three years. To me, that would make it leas pressure and free myself up to run the program like I needed to. But hell...that's me.

Half the posts in this thread have the main point as no one can coach as well as Miles.
