What areas outside of Omaha would be nice to stay in?

Hotel and airbnb pricing in Omaha is comical so I'm considering bringing my family to a hotel outside the city, even in Council Bluffs. I know very little about the area, though and I've read that the western portion of the city is decently safe but I have no clue how reliable that is. I don't mind driving to the stadium every day if I have to, if it means saving $1,000 on lodging.

At these rates, we might be splitting aluminum cans with the homeless for a spot under the bridge

I’ve stayed at Harrah’s council bluffs multiple times. One year we took RV and stayed at Lake Manawa (sp?) state park

Council bluffs is fine to stay at, especially if you like to gamble

In 23 we stayed on the west side of town at the Aloft. I don’t remember exactly but it was only like 120 a night. Took about 15 mins to drive downtown

I've never been so forgive me if I'm wrong. But isn't there a foot bridge from Council Bluffs to downtown Omaha?

Fremont might have a few spots available. About half hour from Omaha

We stayed at Fairfield suites in the northwest part of town and it was fine. Drive into downtown was a piece of cake

West side of Omaha is very safe. It would be a long haul to the game but it’s safe out there.

I have cousins who live in Omaha and know the area pretty well.

20 minute drive from west Omaha to stadium. Traffic up here is not what Baton Rouge and New Orleans folks are used to, as in Omaha has very little traffic delays.

Just booked ours at the airport/downtown La Quinta. Have no clue if that is good or not, but it says its in Iowa and doesn't look too far from Charles Schwab field.
