I think Aranda has helped the defense play much better, but there were a few blown coverages last night. Hoping those mistakes can get cleared up this week in practice. Also, has anyone noticed how quiet he is on the sideline? Can't really tell he's the DC sometimes. Overall though, I'm impressed with the defense so far. What do y'all think?

I think he's just keeping it simple for the first few games. Making sure they have the base down before cutting them loose.

He's kind of a soft spoken guy. That isn't to say he's ineffective. I have confidence he'll get the mistakes cleaned up and overall, I've been fairly satisfied with our defense thus far.

The most important thing to me is red zone defense and we've only given up 2 tds this year, despite constantly giving Wisconsin a short field.

This I think.

Hope to see them grow as the season progresses.

I'm happy with him. Like another poster said, I think he's kept it kinda vanilla so far and once we get into SEC play he will let it loose.

Defense can't tackle.

Defense has yet to find a real identity, so it's hard to tell. Linebackers look lost especially in coverage or watching the QB up the middle.

I've been impressed considering it's a new scheme and the offense is getting us KILLED in time of possession.

The thing that scares me is that Adams and Donte Jackson tend to gamble in coverage too much. I don't like seeing them on the same side of the field. They can turn a 6 yd gain into an 76 yd gain.

Rome wasn't built overnight. We knew it would be a transition. We knew our offense had to be strong this year in order to compete. Ask me again in 3 years and I'll be able to better gripe about Aranda and his lacks.

Except the defence looks worse early in games and gets better as games go on.

True

Also, our run defense is light years better with Valentine in the game. He commands double team almost every snap. He just needs to get conditioned to play longer periods of time.

HIs opponets are averaging 14.5/game. I'll take that.

It's hard to tell from last night's effort. They weren't playing an elite offense.

I like everything about Aranda except Dante Jackson. That guy takes too many risks and has been a liability in coverage

I like what he and O have done with the front 7, but there appears to be a steep learning curve with pass defense.

I think the defense is fine.

They are still learning the system and its not like we have been recruiting for his scheme. Several key players are learning a new position.

Aranda has definitely mixed things up and has these guys playing at a pretty high level already.

I like that he took the opportunity this week to play guys like Sci Martin, Savion Smith, Ed Alexander, Xavier Lewis, Rashard Lawrence, Donnie Alexander, and a few other freshman and backups. I feel like all of these guys played very well and the early playing time is going to pay huge dividends for us when we really need the depth later in the year.

I enjoyed the pre snap movement/switching on the line and the linebackers were pretty gap sound. The corners missed a couple times when trying to jump a route but I love the aggressiveness and the want to create turnovers.

They weren't a top 10 offense or anything, but to undermine that team is ridiculous. They are very talented and their QB is probably better than some of the SEC QBs we will see this year.
