I think the only think I'm confused about Aranda is the lack of motion. When we played Wisconsin a few years ago I recall his front being a nightmare due to the motion on the line. I have not seen that yet.

I hear he sits in his office with the lights off a lot. Scheming.

I think the players need to learn their assignments better. Pretty much every blown coverage I've seen was simply in the player not being in the right spot rather than a design flaw.

I think when they catch on he will open it up a little more. High risk at the moment.

I agree with you. I'm not sure you will get to witness what his scheme can do with LSU talent in the long run, because Miles is in his last season and it's not a given the new HC will keep him on staff.

Miles in his last year is my opinion. It appears he has snubbed hi nose at his boss and that will get you every time.

Is there a different way to tackle in the 3-4 that I'm unaware of?

No you stupid frick but there are different assignments and responsibilities that have to be learned.

Chill. When we have played 2 SEC games we will have enough data.

That said, I'm not real impressed. We've had really good defenses for over a decade, under multiple coordinators and we seem to struggle more than I have seen us in over 10 years.

Maybe the players learn the 3-4 and maybe they don't. I just don't see what all the hype is about quite frankly.

And I desperately want to see us perform at a high level again, hopefully he gets it together.

Looks quietly intense, but really saw little of him. BDP was, as per usual, just steps from the white hat, mouth running.

Dante Jackson. That guy takes too many risks and has been a liability in coverage! I'm really worried when coach Aranda puts our DB's in Zone coverage they tend to be out of place and taking to many risk jumping routes.I for one would like to see our Db's play man up and tackle better, Stop giving up so many yards after a catch.

I have faith in him so far. Results speak for themselves... especially with the defense on the field all game long against Wisc.

I see the defensive calls slowly shifting towards the more aggressive with time due to a lack of confidence in the players grip of the new schemes in Aranda's eyes. The things that he wants to do call for a lot of discipline from that front seven which is pretty much what broke down on most of those QB runs yesterday.

Sure, it would be nice to see our CBs bumping their rec's at the LOS and playing more aggressive but I can't expect young guys like Jackson or even Tolliver to just jump into that kind of role. I think that they will be allowed to start tightening up their coverages as they earn Aranda's trust though. For that to happen, that pass rush also needs to get stepped up.

So the bottom line is that it will take a little time before any of us know what's up. Although we have a loss, the defense is fortunate to have had two solid offenses with different strengths to play against going into SEC play.

Can't complain too much. Two games in and we've yet to give up 20+ like we did nearly every game last year.

We did give up 20 points in every game last year except Tx A&M game.

Even the cupcakes scored 20 on our defense last year.
