I don’t hold his father’s comments against him. I appreciate what Stingley did in 2019, but I’m not sad to see that family go.

That is why I dont hold any ill feelings for him either. His dad screwed up the present situation. If all we heard was Stingley was hurt he would be held in much higher regard by the masses but since his dad talked so much trash in interviews this year I am sure there are a lot of people who do hold that against Derrick.

He played not to get hurt when he did play after 2019. That’s soft.

He actually did just the opposite. He tried to play through pain & injuries yet he still gets hated on. Some dumbasses can't seem to understand the difference between playing injured & lack of effort.

They think that just because someone is playing injured that their level of play is going to be the same as if they were healthy. It just doesn't work that way especially when it comes to ankle & foot injuries. They want to act like know it alls but 99.9% of them don't even know that Stingley hurt his foot in fall practice before the season even started. He was never healthy to begin with yet he still tried to play.

These idiots said the same things about Fournette when he battled a high ankle sprain his last season. He tried playing through it but ultimately it was just too much for him to try to play through.

His dad never should have been doing interviews in the first place. That’s a failure on Ed Orgeron’s part and only served to benefit Stingley Sr and our worthless propagandists in BR sports media.

Exactly. There were idiots who even made negative comments about Stingley & his girlfriend, saying he was pussy whipped & posted too many pictures on his IG of them together. Just really dumb shite.

Certainly can't be labeled as the best D-Back in LSU history. There have just been too many amazing ones.

[My two top faves are Corey Webster and The Honey Badger, but that's a different topic.]

I think time will tell, once he puts together a history of play, but I will root for his success like all the other Tigers.

Actually as far as the NFL goes I root for players more than teams.

LSU two-time All-American cornerback, Derek Stingley Jr., had a procedure performed on his foot, head coach Ed Orgeron announced on Wednesday, Oct. 6.

Stingley has missed the last two games after reaggravating a foot injury the week before the Mississippi State game that he initially suffered during fall camp.

Corey Webster is criminally underrated.

16 career aunts including back to back seasons with 7. Played 4 years. Productive NFL Career. NC.

LSU's Derek Stingley to Be Held Out Longer Than Expected as a Precaution

Injuries starting to mount for purple and gold as team scrimmage sees first day of tackling in fall camp

quote:

The Tigers held their first preseason scrimmage of the season on Saturday afternoon and were not only down Stingley but running mate Elias Ricks as well, who is dealing with a camp injury.
"I think we're going to have to give [Derek] a little bit more time," Orgeron said. "Eli Ricks is perhaps going to come back in some capacity next week. I think it's going to take Derek, this is more of a precautionary measure, we don't want to bring him out when he's not full speed, it may take more than a week. He's going to be fine, it's just we want to make sure when he comes back he doesn't reinjure it."

Stingley tried to play through it only to reinjure his foot again & made it worse which then required surgery to fix.

I respect his ability and his contribution to the Tigers. I'll never dislike a guy who played for us and never transferred out even if he opted out or whatever. That said I don't hold him in the same rare air as PP7, TM7 C. Webster, LaRon or even Ron Brooks type. Those guys gave everything. There was so much hype that wasn't ever put on the field. I mean everyone was talking about him on offense and a Heisman leader, but he didn't even put together a real first team All American season. I hope he is a good ambassador for LSU, but I have serious doubts he will. That will determine how much respect I put on him.

I also think that his dad put a bad taste in the mouth of many fans that hurts his perception.

Rooting for him in the NFL because he’s a Tiger and didn’t transfer. But since his freshman year he’s been more worried about the future than his current team. Hey I get it, millions at stake. He just wasn’t a leader. Hope he does bug things in the NFL. He’s just not gonna be one of my favorite Past Tigers

Supremely talented. Could’ve been the best but didn’t reach his potential here. Got absolutely robbed of the SEC freshman of the year in 2019. Helped us win a natty. Will be rooting for him in the NFL.

The players are part of LSU.

That’s allegedly why we like college football.

If you don’t give a frick about the players beyond what they’re doing on the field than why would they give a frick about LSU once they don’t have anything left to prove on the field?

Stingley and Ricks aren’t the same. Ricks literally just signed to play for Alabama.

For all you clowns who say this, do yall ever stop to think about what Derek Sr has been through pertaining to football & why his perspective/opinions maybe slightly different from most?

quote:

Derek Stingley Jr. is following the steps of his father and grandfather in the football world. His father, Derek, played professionally in the Arena Football League. His grandfather, Darryl, played college football at Purdue University before playing five years in the NFL as a wide receiver for the New England Patriots.

Derek Stingley, Jr. attended The Dunham School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While his grandfather played professionally as a wide receiver, Stingley Jr. played on the other side of the ball as a cornerback. In his school, he finished his career with 27 interceptions, opening the eyes of many scouts. He was also named Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior.

Darryl Stingley had played five seasons with the New England Patriots and was ready for his sixth when a preseason injury against the Oakland Raiders ended his career. Stingley was running a slant pattern, left his feet, and extended his arms while he took a vicious hit from safety Jack Tatum.

Stingley never played again. He was left a quadriplegic. Darryl Stingley died in 2007 when his grandson Derek Stingley Jr. was 5 years old.

I don't how anyone can watch this video & not understand how much Darryl Stingley meant to Derek Sr & Jr or question Jr's love for LSU or the game of football period.

I said hasn’t really played in 2 years. Why did you argue with a stat from 3 years ago? You’re the one with the spin.

He played in. November of 2020. That isn’t 3 years ago. You fricking moron.

That isn’t 2 full seasons ago.

Ok dipshit. You’re being conveniently literal to dispute something I didn’t say. We all saw when he played, and when he sat out with toenail injuries, when he sat out for undisclosed personal reasons, when he played hard and when he was on the field going through the motions. And nobody’s expecting a cb to run up in the hole and be a run stopper. I’m talking about open field lack of effort “business decision” missed tackles. See the UCLA long td for a good example.

Stingley is a quiet kid. He simply isn't a loud rah rah player. Joe Burrow said he immediately wanted to test Stingley’s toughest when he arrived on campus as an early enrollee during Fiesta Bowl practices. After doing so, Burrow said Stingley was the best freshman player he ever saw. I'm going to roll with Burrow's opinion over some mouthbreathing ranter anyday since Burrow actually interacted with Stingley almost on a daily basis.

You asked my why I wasnusing Stats from 3 years ago.

So either you literally are a moronz

Or you were exaggerating so much to make a dumb point. Either way, I’m going to point out how fricking wrong that was.
