Could LSU have 3 coaching changes this 16-17 academic year?

To be fair, we also didn't think we'd have Poche... I'm still in a state of shock that he stayed.

Sucks to lose Cani but I think the team will be stronger this season.

Yes they did
Still sucks we lost
Not a disrespect to them
That easily could have been us winning it all just as they did
They could rake though

I sincerely hope that we make an effort to develop a third and fourth starter this year.
A fourth starter? Who in college has anything like what LSU fans think a fourth (and third) starter is?
In 2009, LSU had two starters and a pretty terrible Austin Ross (6-8 mark and a 5.18 ERA in 83.1 innings with 22 walks and 76 strikeouts). That's about the best you're going to do in college.

You want to compare the most athletic OF we've ever had.
The most athletic outfield we've ever had was in 2009, chief. Neon, Mitchell, Schimpf, and Mahtook.

No. PM isn't going anywhere unless he wants to.

There are plenty of teams with guys that can give 5 innings every mid week and are prepared to make a legitimate quality start if needed in a tournament situation.
Never even attempting to stretch anyone out into that role leads to absolutely not having anyone available to do it in the post season.
Either way, I'm about 12 games into logging the average leverage index of the relievers from last season, man we put Caleb Gilbert in some stressful situations very early in the season. Russell Reynolds, not so much. Still early, but I want to get a gauge on our returning bullpen guys and see how reliable they are.

Plenty? Really? I'd say it is difficult for most teams and even upper echelon programs like LSU to have guys that do what our fans think a fourth guy should do.

You keep saying "what our fans think a 4th guy should do."
I literally just laid out, and you quoted, what I think a 4th starter should be expected to do. Be able to go 5 innings consistently in the mid week and be stretched out enough to give a post season start.
I know, high expectations. And yes, plenty of programs have guys capable of doing that every year (relative to their roster, which I didn't think needed to be said but I guess it did). Because it's an approach thing, not a talent level thing.
Not being able to develop a guy to do that is one thing. We aren't even trying to, and that's the problem I have.

Again, not even Austin Ross was what you think a fourth starter should be and he was a third guy. Who is LSU's greatest fourth starter in program history?

Slaughter and Smith will start the season at first and third respectively.
Watch these two to see if they are ready for the jump to the SEC level.
Freeman and Kramer will spark in the middle infield.
Catching must improve. We gave up too many bases due to ordinary catching. Any hitting is a plus, but we have to control base runners and balls in the dirt better.
OF will have a battle in left between Beau and Breaux. Could see a platoon here? CF will see Duplantis. He has the wheels, but I question his instincts at this position. Deichman in RF is an experiment that needs to work out.
Pitching is like a box of chocolates. Let's hope this year we find more consistency from 1 and 2, we find a 3 and we develop a deeper pen, and a killer closer.
We have guys who have played waiting opportunities if the front line players falter.
I'm looking for a big year.

It isn't about 6 arms making the majors. It's about 4 productive starters in one individual season. Also, the roster and scholarship situations are vastly different now.
