What an emotional moment it was if you bleed purple and gold when Jodie Meeks last second three pointer didn't even draw iron. Cast the memory back to the spring of 1999 when the Tigers were completing their sixth straight losing season with draconian NCAA sanctions looming. It would have been very difficult to envision the coming decade would bring more SEC titles than any other decade in the program's history. Getting the program back to a competitive level seemed a monumental task in itself.
That this program would ascend to a level of participating in a Final Four and Sweet 16 was incomprehensible. Winning three SEC titles in the decade, only one less than Kentucky is testament to what can be achieved.
It is fitting the decade had bookend titles which is a tribute to all of the players who had the faith to join a program which had struggled after so many years of success under Dale Brown.
The titles are also a tribute to John Brady, the architecht of the three title teams who along with Butch Pierre recruited all except one of the players on those title teams. It is also a tribute to Trent Johnson who put the final nails in the structure and got a veteran team to buy into a new system and shake off the frustrations of the past two injury plagued seasons after reaching the Final For.
The vision in the spring of 2009 is a lot bettter than it was in the spring of 1999. While we all want a consistent winner and championship contender that may not happen unless great players stick around for three or for years. The foundation has been laid and if the right things occur Trent Johnson has a chance to coach the most succesful decade ever. Support him and the Tigers no matter what happens and we may have many more emotional moments including raising that long sought national championship banner to the rafters of the PMAC.
Congrats tiger20. You cheapened your own post by undermining it with the same BS you always do. In all that you wrote, the only thing I could focus on was the overwhelming crap that is your hidden agenda. I still don't know what it is you are trying to accomplish in all this.
John Brady breathed life into this program a decade ago. For that I am thankful. But he sucked the life right out of it shortly after with a pitiful Sweet Sixteen performance and with it, the stark realization that we would never achieve a level of consistency under a coach whose players wouldn't buy into a garbage system, while those who knew it was garbage left.
Trent Johnson is the the antithesis of Brady. He can coach. He can get his players to believe. He can inspire greatness, consistency, and effort.
I never realized what TJ was doing to this program until yesterday...when I watched Terry Martin man up against Meeks. A guy who barely gave a half-arse effort under Brady but was rewarded with playing time sat out four games earlier this season while he learned a valuable life lesson. Instead of leaving the team, he dedicated himself to it, and yesterday he was trusted to stop an incredible player when the stopper went out with foul trouble. You saw a player take pride in himself and play great D....a true reflection of his teammates and his head coach.

Tigerbite, you put this as well as I have seen put!
Tiger 20 is obviously trying a brady cumbaya with this years teams success! We are 25-4, and have won some of the gutsiest and gritiest games filled with pressure and on the road as I have seen, and all in one season! Tell me when the last time was that we won at Kentucky, at Tennessee, and at Mississippi St. in the same season. I really don't know if we ever have. Trent Johnson is one of the brightest stars in the college coaching fraternity right now, and the awesome thing is, is that he is LSU's coach! And to put tiger 20 in his place for the millionth time, when is Brady going for his interview for either the Georgia, Alabama, or any of the other major Div 1 programs? Since he is such a goddamned hot property as you suckingly profess, then when is he leaving his shithole of a job at Arkansas Puffnstuff, to take a real job at a real program? When will they come a calling? Answer, NEVER, and you KNOW it! Go Tigers, with A REAL coach of a REAL PROGRAM!

An excellent point. I remember thinking yesterday after the Tigers went down by 10, then mounted an impressive comeback, would that have happened with Brady coaching?

It is easy to dislike Brady, he is a difficult guy. Nevertheless, he came in here with a DOA program when there were likely not a lot of candidates for the job. He left the program in a lot better shape than he found it.
That is all you can expect.
The original post was dead on.

Fixed it for you.

The titles are a tribute to Trent Johnson who inherited a veteran team yearning for a talented coach. He turned them into college caliber players while shaking off the frustrations of the draconian Brady tenure whose attrition and graduation rate was a black eye to the University, state of Louisiana, and SEC.

John Brady's athletic, street ball recruits got us to a Final Four, not him. I couldnt tell you how many times i saw his teams turn the ball over trying to inbound it being pressured. How many times i saw Tack minor Run wildly down the court only to charge. How many Charges i saw without dishing the ball out to the open man. How many time our offense was stagnant, wait OFFENSE? WE DIDNT HAVE ONE UNDER BRADY. MY grandpa, our AAU basketball coach ran better plays than Brady did. Jesus, it wasnt hard to tell that Brady was a horrible coach. Atleast he could recruit, thats the only thing that saved his arse, and it may not have even been him that recruited most of these players. (Butch Pierre, Collis Temple Sr.)

If you ever give up your day job, you really should look into being one of two things - a public defender or Obama's Press Secretary.
You have come up with more creative ways to put lipstick on a pig than any poster in the history of the rant. When presented with visual and written evidence to the fraud that is John Brady, you choose not to believe your lying eyes.

Yeah, I'm sure Brady never had a comeback win. And, why did Brady and Daddy Dale insist on coaching up all those injuries? They really undermined their programs. NEGATIGERS

Hey wittle beetles, answer the question, shithead! When are the major offers from real Div 1 programs coming brady's way? When was that? Yeah, that's what I knew. NEVER, and you and tigger20 and xiv all know it!

Well Beatles, Im sorry. I just don't see how you or anyone can sit here, and tell me what Brady has done. Because, from what i remember, with an exception of one season, watching Brady's teams play Basketball was like pulling teeth. I never trusted our coaching late in the game. I had to hope for a clutch block from Tyrus Thomas or Big Baby, or a clutch 3 from Darrell Mitchell.

In 2006 after LSU went to the final 4, John Brady was a strong candidate for the NC State job that opened up. That's a pretty major program. Learn some facts before those fingers start typing!

wow i bet NC State is so happy they didnt follow through with that. John Brady is a horrible coach.
