It was pretty abysmal. Even for a first start, 37%, 82 yards, and 1 INT is pretty bad. It wasn't like he didnt have time to throw, and he didnt really "settle in".

I didnt expect anything out of him. Sorry I'm not going to lie to myself and think he played "pretty good", when he didnt.

Never said he played "pretty good". I said he played okay. And why would I lie to myself about that?

I don't know?

Youve always been one of the more levelheaded voices around here. I respect your thoughts for sure.

I'm not lying to myself, that's certain.

I look at it this way, if Mett had gone out and done that, then I would've said it was abysmal. But you just can't compare the two apples/apples. Given the situation, I think he did "okay".

But, like I said, the race should be wide open in the Spring. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

Indeed. Hopefully Cam can make a man out of a boy yet.

Losing Mett is tough.

Wish we had him for another year...

Meh... Mett had a few bad games, it happens. I question if he's the future, but obviously he's better than Rettig and Rivers or else he wouldn't have got the start.

Yeah, well, sorry the true freshman making his first start in a rainy bowl game didn't play like Peyton Manning today.

I just enjoy the fact that even on a Louisiana-based sports forum, the ideal of a perfect quarterback is always Peyton Manning. I am surprised, honestly, because I would just assume that Drew Brees would be the QB that comes immediately to mind around here when you think of a great QB. Not relevant to anything else. Just found it amusing.

You guys remember Met's first year as a starter(starting Jr. I might add)...the kid had a lousey game, no sugar coating it...poor footwork, nerves, etc...let's allow for competition, but whoever is decided on, we need to support them through thier growing pains

Well, you do know where Peyton is from...right?

I mean, Brees is awesome...a Hall of Famer...but Peyton is, well, Peyton.

Written off Rettig? He is a redshirt

Prediction:
After the spring, Rivers and Bolden transfer or graduate and play their last year somewhere as grad students

Harris redshirts in 2014
Jennings and Rettig battle for starter and Jennings beats Rettig out.
