He looks to be too stiff and not quick enough to play db.

What about we let the guys who get paid millions and know what they are doing do what they think is right. I have a funny feeling they know more about our personnel and who needs to be where than the collective rambling thoughts of the rant members

Considering Chavis' predilection to convert dbs into linebackers, it should be safe to say that if he hasn't done it yet, he didn't think it was a good idea to move Loston... at least not as good an idea as keeping him at safety.

You can ascribe the "why" in numerous ways...
- maybe didn't think Loston would be a good LB.
- maybe he thought Loston would be a better safety.
- maybe he thought we were thin at safety and would rather keep Loston there for depth. (I say depth even though he's the starter, because moving him would obviously press someone else into service at his spot, at which time the question would become who backs up that person.)

That would work if LSU were stong at DB...not the case this year.
LSU is down at DE, LB and DB from recent years. talent may be their but not ready for prime time.

Offense will have to Carry the Load for a while.

You mean like when Les Miles had JJ play QB the entire NCG against Bama and didn't even give Jarrett Lee a chance?

We could move OBJ to DB, Travis Dickson to WR and Steven Rivers to TE.

Loston has never developed proper tackling techniques. He doesn't wrap up and he takes bad angles. Why do you think putting him at linebacker would be a good idea. Everyone is on Welters case. But honestly, this is the worst looking bunch of linebackers that I have ever seen. The coaches need to do a better job of evaluating talent and coaching them up. Cam showed in one year what good coaching can do. Chavis is sliding.

And that time Cholley Mack should have put in Woodley instead of Ensminger. Stupid coaches.

Getting paid to be a coordinator or assistant coach doesn't make them right or beyond criticism. If that were the case, we would still have Crowton at O.C. and dual D.C.s

it easy pull some of the guys off offense and make them play both ways offense and defense like in the old days. i bet hill would be a hell of a LB. And if landry and obj can be good receivers surely thay could play DB positon. Dang problem solved, let move on. we surely will win out and get to the NC game.

I agree he needs to play in the box and put Ricky Jefferson in his safety spot. We need a run stopper that can make a tackle at the line if scrimmage. I would do it. in a heartbeat. Also put Beckeith at outside lb.

Last I heard Loston was approached about playing that hybrid linebacker position a couple years ago and he declined the move.

They could consider it for next season if Loston wasn't a Senior. He's a slightly better Karnell Hatcher.
