Its what NiL is now. Hired gunslingers.
Why expect anything from a gunslinger but gunslinger actions?

you cannot have an NIL agreement that specifies compensation based on where you play or how you perform. So there is little protection for schools right now.

You can’t pay for play either, but they do it. I won’t be surprised if his NIL is cancelled and the there’s nothing he or the ncaa can do about it.

I won't either because it is a private agreement and the person or group giving him the NIL money probably has some out in the contract based on where he lives or appearances that they can control in a way that means he gets 0 going forward. And he will probably get some sucker to pay him elsewhere.

I absolutely respect what Tenn did. Fricking kid already has a deal that he may not even deserve. Programs need to kick that shite to the curb because it gets out of hand.

I will say this is probably a rare case of just a downright selfish idiotic human being. I wouldn’t expect to see this too often.

This is just one of the downsides of this wild wild west deal. If more of this starts happening, NIL and the portal will start to be reined in. It's ruining college sports.

Don’t these NIL “ contracts “ have it in writing to protect themselves against what this loser is trying to do to Vols.

No. These contracts cannot actually compel the athletes to play at that school.

This is it exactly. Name, Image, Likeness that's it. Can't be tied to play or performance. The athletes have all of the power currently.

The NCAA still has the power to sanction schools/players for violating NCAA policy. Policy states it cant be pay for play. By his actions, of holding out and demanding more money, it seems (seems being the key word as he may just claim he wants a better NIL deal in another city?) that Imaleava has violated that rule. The NCAA needs to declare him ineligible and let him take it to the courts. Otherwise they will not exist in a few years.

Tenn is partially to blame for setting it up from beginning But yeah this gonna be a big problem Some will renegotiate before playoffs

That’s a good point. Can you imagine the chaos that would create? They need to figure out some limits to put on NIL before the next Playoff comes.

No because there is no such thing as a “contract.”

NIL is exactly the frickup everyone said it would be but California and Kavanagh were too stupid to understand. I probably pissed off *both sides* here, but neither one has a monopoly on stupidity. Sorry.

I would imagine it doesn’t do any compelling. It just says this is active during your time at “said school”. If you aren’t at that school the contract is ends.
If they don’t have in the least some wording of that I’d be surprised. Tenn had a 8 mil over four years for him. Who ever is paying that has to pay the last 2 mil when he’s at UCLA? Highly unlikely

I think this is the key. Who says these kids can’t sign contracts that tie their compensation to pay? The NCAA? That’s laughable. The NCAA can’t enforce anything.

It’s time to force them to sign a legal contract and force them to face a legal challenge if they break it.
