I always hate to hear a scholarship has been pulled. Unfortunately this year it’s bound to happen a lot across the country.

You would think, but what if they want Drost to pitch?

Crews has some swing & miss to him.

That’s why saying 8 is a little disingenuous. In reality it’s prob a 4-5 man battle for 2 spots.

Does he have any locations in mind that you could share?

Not to that point right now. It’s gonna be a little more difficult with every team trying to cut to accommodate expanded rosters.

Just guessing but he’s from Thibodaux so maybe Nicholls State makes sense.

I would love to see him end up at ULL. I really like Deggs. I know every team is number crunching, but somebody is going to be willing to crunch some guys out for a player like Toups. And the cycle will just keep pushing all the way down until some kids are out of baseball.

Nothing personal against Nicholls, but I hope he finds a better landing spot. He's better than that for sure.

I asked that question the other day and someone (Adam maybe? Idk) said that with our depth at pitching and our need at the plate it’s unlikely he’ll get much opportunity to pitch. I can’t say I disagree with that

That may be the case but he’s also an exceptional ball player who has hit the ball well everywhere he’s been.

Toups didn’t exactly light the world on fire when he did play. It was going to be a long row to hoe to get to starting job.

Processing so many over the past few years doesn’t help your recruiting
Way too many misses on recruiting trail

LHP isn’t deep though. He honestly could be the best lefty on the staff.

But so could have Cabrera the last two years.

So who knows

Cole Henry just stated that Hasty has the best stuff of any pitcher on the staff. Take that for what it’s worth because I definitely didn’t see that last year but Henry did.

You can’t blame coaches for processing players this year. They literally don’t have a choice. There’s only so much money to be spread around.

Book it Toups will heavily contribute to his new school. Kid has a great stroke.

Probably back to Thibodaux and going to Nicholls State with the rest of ED White's players

Can't figure out if this post is a huge display of ignorance, or a huge display of stupidity.

Why would any position player leave LSU? We have no stars, every position is up for grabs.

Most normal years, Drost and Crews wouldn't likely make it to campus. Not to mention, next year could bring in more top talent. It also appeared at the end of the year Sanford was getting more opportunity than Toups. Toups is a very talented player but there was a real possibility that he would never see the field.

They literally don’t have a single kid from ED white. But they do have too many of you people.

I unfortunately believe this. Mainieri is almost too honest and to his teams detriment about his players in the offseason about their chances of playing. If its a scholarship money thing and we had to give more to crews to get him in here, then i guess i get it. But some of these decisions with guys like reid last year getting processed this just sting

I don’t believe there’s a such thing as being “too honest” with a kids chances. These are their desired careers coaches are playing with here. Don’t make a draft worthy kid sit on your bench to become a UDFA by lying to him. Give him the facts and let him make his own decision. It’s a college after all it’s meant to help further you in your chosen career field.

You said it yourself. Every position is up for grabs and it’s a strong arse recruiting class for outfielders.

Not to mention the whole thing of he lost his scholarship

wasn't told to leave. scholarship pulled. too many new kids coming in and he had dang near a full ride. he chose to look elsewhere to get draft stock up. can't blame the kid. one of top picks coming out of high school and coach chooses to sit him with better on base percentage than most of the other OF
