It pleases me that Welter in the game pisses you off so much. You're easily one of the worst posters on here. Have fun watching him in the middle the whole year.

Not sure how any single person could be singled out in the first half. It was actually Hunter getting schooled early and people were still bitching about Welter.
Bingo. Hunter was horrible last night. I am beginning to think that he is nothing but a gym rat.

I said that before the season and people on here blasted me. Hunter hasn't done much at LSU besides look good without a shirt on. He's so overrated at this point. I've been hoping he would put it together and maybe he still will but right now...not looking good.

It really is bizarre that people jump to welters defense. He looks like he's playing in Lou Tepper's scheme (for the those that remember and wish to forget).

I still wake up screaming some nights bc of Tepper

But this one time, the defensive tackle was lined up in a 3 technique and Welter had to tap him on the butt to move him to the 1 technique. That was a sweet adjustment.

Not sure what you are watching but none of the LB's played well in the first half. Alexander kept getting caught up in traffic as well as Beckwith. They all looked better in the second half but we were walking guys up and running blitzes. In base D, our LB's need to keep improving. Good thing it's only the first game.

I agree with this to a point, but you have to admit MLB is an important position and a very exposed position. It's easy to see when they screw up. A good example is the FL game 2012 when Minter got hurt and had to sit, and the impact it had on defending the run.

I'm only defending Welter insomuch as Chief believes he's our best MLB at this time. I don't claim that he's a great MLB - he's not. But I certainly don't profess to know the players, the team, or the game of football better than John Chavis. If Chavis thinks Welter should be playing, then I agree.

I do, however, think Welter is unfairly singled out. Someone like Danielle Hunter, with all the hype, who gets run by time after time in the first half, receives hardly any criticism. Why? IDK. Maybe the hype, maybe the muscles/veins, maybe the race, maybe people just don't want to admit they overrated him.

To be fair though the DTs didn't exist last night. They were blowing gap assignments that allowed the lineman to move straight to the LBs. Just like last year we have problems on DL but it looks like it might be even worse than last year.

Was interesting to see Godchaux(sp?) in. He's going to be boss eventually.

It's a product of the bizarre criticism to be honest. I know he's certainly no stand out, but people blame him for things that are not his fault. One Wisconsin td was the result of a misplay by kwon and a dl last night, and yet people were calling out welter.

rewatching the DVR now and it's just terrible
Please be sure to see Gordon running by Beckwith as he was laying on the ground on his belly.

At least Welter hangs onto a leg every now and then.

I am no Welter fanboy, but Beckwith got in pretty damn early in the second, made one great play, then got blasted the rest of the nite.

Right. But my point is many of those bitching are blaming one guy, and don't even realize LSU substitutes at that position frequently.

It's kind of funny.

What's your point? Should we replace all our starters since one of the best O-lines and RBs in the country took them to school for a half?

Kwon is the only LB'er who looks halfway decent, and he looked very good last night.

I knew as soon as Miles praised Herron he actually meant the opposite. I don't see how people refuse to understand Miles code when he speaks. When he praises a young player like that it usually means they're not up to par. I think it's just more a way to protect them. Maybe he's hurt I don't know. I don't remember seeing him in last night.

Is that why he played one series,? which I should add they ran ball right down throats and scored and that was the end of 52?

My point is that when 31 is in the center of your screen it's hard to miss the screw ups. I'll admit there is some overstating the case, but most of us who criticize are just used to seeing better at that position.
