e had the 4th most total tackles (5) on the team, but of course you wouldn't mention that. Usually for a RB to get to the MLB, he'll have more than one guy around him.

They have a power running offense which generally results in more gang tackling especially in the middle.

Not really he got mauled on that 63 yard run. Gordon cut back behind that block.

jeezus fricking christ we have some idiots for fans...is every rotation played throughout the night the result of a player getting "yanked"? If he would have been yanked he wouldn't have returned to the field.

I thought beckwith looked a lot better, but on that TD run, beckwith looked really bad. I know it was one play, I think if he gets more reps, those plays will not happen. Beckwith should be the starter for sure

Except, using the OP's measure of MLBs (solo tackles), Beckwith was worthless.

Welter is just ok. You just don't hear his name called out. Really, outside of Alexander, nobody in the front seven stood out. We really need a Kevin Mnter like presence in the LB core. A tackling machine.

It really is bizarre that people jump to welters defense. He looks like he's playing in Lou Tepper's scheme (for the those that remember and wish to forget).

There's been a rotation of some sort for the past couple of years. Even when certain players are not in the game (not just Welter) they still get blamed when things aren't going LSU's way.

Numerous times his name is mentioned when he's not even playing.

Not sure how any single person could be singled out in the first half. It was actually Hunter getting schooled early and people were still bitching about Welter. The whole front 7, even the "backups" sucked in the first half.

I remember Beckwith having some terrible reads.

To be fair, Hunter sucked last night too. He looked lost as hell. Many of those big runs was because of his horrible containment.

You don't rotate MLBs man. And if you do it only occurs rarely bc they are gassed or you are using a formation that requires more guys for covering, such as dime or nickel. In which case, you don't replace them with another MLB.

It means what we already know. Welter can't get off blocks which is what a LB is supposed to do.

I'm also convinced Hunter is nothing more than a workout warrior.
