Tom Landry was fired.
Joe Paterno was fired.
Bobby Bowden was fired.
Eddie Robinson would have been fired if he hadn't abruptly resigned.

Coaches are hired to be fired. That's just the way it works.

You know the defense was bad last season even for a championship team, but at least they came around towards the end of the season. But they weren't lost like this defense, this defense isn't capable of anything right now. The fundamentals are horrible, tackling, pursuit angles on ball carriers, gap placement for were they should be, I could go on and on.

Defense wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. Texas and Bama had powerful offenses, and it showed all year. There was not one team that scored 40 offensive points on us (one of Bama's TDs was S/T). IMO, Ole Miss was the only time the defense just completely looked like shite, and that only really happened in the second half when we were up by 30. Outside of them only Texas scored more than 34 offensive points. Even against UF, it was just Stingley getting picked on. Outside of him during that game, we were good.

I was an Orgeron doubter from the start, and was THRILLED when we won it last year, and the crow was delicious. However, I stated at the time he's just Gene Chizik right now, and he has to sustain it

Now I see he can't sustain it, for whatever reason (complacency, in over his head, etc..). It's just a matter of time until he's fired. He caught lightning in a bottle last year with Brady, and more importantly Broadway Joe. The problem is, last year (and the new monster contract) bought him at least through 2021, and possibly longer.

Once again for the simpletons out there. I DO NOT WANT TO BE RIGHT ABOUT THIS. But I know I am. I desperately want Orgeron to shut me the blank up (like last year), and right this ship. Because I LOVE LSU.

Well LSU did win NC's before Joe came to LSU.
What does that have to do with what I said about Burrow making Orgeron? Absolutely, nothing.

The point I was making was that even though the defense last season started off bad, they finished strong and knew basic fundamentals even during the times that they played bad. But this defense here just hasn't a clue right now, they're bad at everything even the most basic of fundamentals. Pelini must do something to get these guys going or it'll continue to snowball. When you have players like Stingley thinking it's funny and okay to laugh at your defense giving up easy scores, well, that's a problem to me. He (Pelini) needs to crack down on these guys and get tough with them on the BS, challenge them to play with fire and intensity on defense because right now just stripping down to a basic defense ain't working.

The only way it tanks us for 10 years is if we let him hang around promising next year is the year!! Can’t mess up this recruiting class!!

I mean I get what you’re saying and I want to believe that, but... you do realize O’s buyout is far too large to even consider firing him until the final season, right? There’s no way.

Oh, Chizik was the passing coordinator, I got it. Still don't get the concept of college and pro sports teams.

This defense plays like someone else is going to come in and make the calls and plays for them. Not to mention this team has not recruited for the 4-3.

"This team is on track to be the worst team in LSU history."

Hilarious! And there is always some truth is something that is humorous!

O recruits better than Chizik, but he's got to get this defense figured out.

that would have been my first call for a DC. Say what you want about him, he was a very good DC.

O has already had 3 seasons with 9+ wins, whereas Chizik only had the one. Especially since there was a NY6 bowl with the Natty this comparison is a little bit of a stretch.
