Wake me up instead of insulting me. Or you’re the ignorant one.

Paraphrasing: “The irony is schools that once wouldn’t recruit black players now used them to their advantage and to the detriment of historically black colleges.”
This actually would be an interesting discussion to have but definitely not something to beat people over the head with.

It’s not the history that’s the problem, it’s how they framed it. Communication 101. The framework you set creates the lens by which the audience sees only what you want them see while blocking the rest.

So they initially denied black players to the benefit of HBCs?

They hate you. They want what you have.
Good morning.
Good morning.

Actually, I thought they handled the discussion about segregation and integration and its effects in a really respectful and sincere way. It actually made me think about some of the side effects that I never considered. The way integration happened was that traditionally white powerhouse schools picked up the best black athletes which was integration, but they still locked out traditionally black schools from participation in conferences. By doing that, the powerhouses retained their power in the game without really integrating the schools themselves. Think how different football history might be if Eddie Robinson coached Grambling in the SEC all those years. Interesting to think about anyway.
The quotes by Finebaum about Alabama were very good, as well. He said that people didn't see their resistance to integration as an issue because they were focused more on how they were being portrayed. Again, never thought about it the way it was described on this program tonight. I enjoy being forced to look at things differently sometimes and reconsider my own preconceived notions.

Their sole mission is to advance their progressive agenda at the expense of their perceived political competition. It is a cynical demoralization campaign, these people don’t give a shite about the things they moan about they are only interested in your grief. Racial grievance has become a massive industry that has devoured the body politic.

If you can’t figure out that an hour long documentary entitled Anglo-Saxon Supremacy that proceeds to showcase white journalists telling you that everything you hold dear is wrong and detrimental to blacks, then I can’t help you.

Why harp on it? It’s not news to anyone and the shite got fixed so obviously folks cared enough to change things for the better.

It’s the history of the sport.

They want to replace this nation with their own twisted version communism.
You’re right they don’t give a shite about what they moan about. It is a means to an end.
Unfortunately, more and more people continue to fall for their blatant attempts at division through half truths and forcing guilt on weak minded people.

A fricking low energy loser’s history of CFB, a there’s a million awesome things and people to talk about yet they just can’t seem to help themselves because race pimping through media is easy money.

I'm not sure if everyone taking up a position on this issue actually watched ... and listened ... to the documentary. It was a pretty great history of college football. It's impossible to separate the history of the sport from the history of the country at key social moments.
It was pretty fascinating seeing the stuff about the early violence of the sport and how even Teddy Roosevelt got involved in helping to make it safer. Eerily similar to current day player safety initiatives and education.

You’re exactly right I did not watch once it became apparent that the program was propaganda

It was straight up propaganda. You can’t be serious.

Watching now. I'm not seeing the whole propaganda aspect. Seems to me they are trying to explain the fall of HBCs and thier inability to compete on a national level.
If you want to say it was an unnecessary segment, and there is a lot more college football history they could've focused on...im with a ya.
Maybe I'm missing it

Yeah I didn't see propaganda either. That comment just sent me on a long search through Twitter (which I usually avoid) to see if maybe I just enjoyed the show and everyone else out there saw all this stuff I missed. Nope. Looks like the vast majority of reaction to the documentary was really positive. I thought they handled all of the stuff without being inflamatory. They even handled old-school hardnosed coaches well without the modern day habit of calling that type of teaching (or parenting) abusive. Nick Saban's dad sounds a lot like mine and probably like a lot of y'alls if your'e old enough.

Totally agree. Anyone who feels otherwise is just uncomfortable with the truth. The sport is not pure as the driven snow................................and that's okay. That's how life is.
I was actually surprised that ESPN addressed the issue to the extent that they did. If you know history, you know that everything they stated on that particular topic was indeed true. Why be upset about it? In fact, it's clear that many of you on this thread didn't even know the history.
