At the line of scrimmage. It doesn’t matter who your D.C. is.

The jimmies and Joe’s are what matter.

Starts and Ends.

It is the reason Bama does what it does. Saban is the absolute best at Recruiting the Oline and Dline.

Play overmatched teams, he is lost. Most overrated DC in the country.

Can't agree more. Too many on this board don't seem to understand this fact.
Give me 5 star linemen on both sides and someone who can get them in sec shape and suddenly we will see just how good the skilled players really are. That is the biggest gap between LSU and other top tier teams. We need to get enough depth to avoid being forced to play younger players. This goes for every position. This will evolve into a Bama type culture "relative to" players staying for the entire term at LSU simply because they have to stay and perfect their craft until it's their turn. "It's the process".
I believe the Bama olinemen are all Sr's and redshirt Jr's.
Opt out at Bama is very quiet because of this culture or process in place. Pay the price for playing for Saban now will pay off big time in 4 yrs in many cases.
LSU puts so many into the pro's as does Bama. Just think how much better LSU would be if these players would fulfill their term at LSU. This type of culture is one of or is the biggest problem at LSU.

Venables had a good reputation years ago. It went from good to great when he handcuffed Bama a couple of times. That is NOT overmatched competition.

He is a very good DC, but he’s not a miracle worker. In fact, no DC can stop a well run talented offense. Not today, when they allow receivers to push off and offensive linemen to hold.

All a DC can do is try to take away an offense’s bread and butter, gang up on tendencies, and be multiple and unpredictable. Venables does that. It doesn’t take a PhD intellect, though. Any smart kid, who has a few years experience at a top program, should be able to do it. Frankly, I think teams waste a lot of money overpaying DCs.

Ohio State won because of very good receivers catching exceptionally thrown passes. It's the same formula LSU used last year against Clemson. The Clemson DBs are good but aren't tested by a field full of skilled players until they reach the playoffs. Then, it's too late.

Tried to explain this the other day and was told that stars are overrated. That’s why the best programs recruit and sign 3* lineman. (Sarcasm on)

Yeah the trenches are always important but they were not what stuck out as the deciding factor last night.

Calm down bro. It’s just a joke. I’m a Braves fan, I know all about small markets. I hate the Dodgers, was 100% pulling for the stros.

Held both Ohio St & Bama to their season lows in 2019 & 2018, respectively.

Does Saban giving up half a hundred to Ole Miss this year make him overrated? What about Aranda last year?

Or...do really good coaches just have bad games?

BINGO!!
I have respect for those who respect their commitment to the program that gave them the chance to compete, excel, and move on to the next level.
I have NONE for the quitters and self serving who can only think of self.

And before you get started on the chance of injury you need to know that these players carry insurance policies in case of a tragic injury that would keep them out of the NFL.
