LSU, showed true grit coming back from so far down (in game one), I actually turned the channel last night
expecting PM would again pull the Tiger hiney out of the fire with solid at-bats and pitching befuddling the Texas batting roster.
Paul Mainieri for getting LSU's Boys of Summer this far.

CWS umps have always given away that outside pitch. Totally aggravating.
I didn't have time to read this whole thread so this may have already been mentioned. The bottom line is ESPN and the NCAA wanted to have a 3rd game. Calling the strike zone tight for LSU and loose for Texas doesn't guarantee that, but it sure helps.
I do not see the domination from Texas as most are mentioning. Last night we had our chances and couldn't capitalize with runners in scoring position. One or 2 big hits in those situations could have made the outcome a little different. But give credit to Jungman. He made the pitches he had to in those critical situations. Let's just hope Ranaudo can duplicate his effort tonight....

Who is pitching for Tx tonight? Stats? ERA? Sorry, I'm lazy after working 14 hours last night.

Well, either you people are losing it or I need to get my eyes checked. Personally, I think it's an overreaction to a loss tonight and it's going to be impossible to convince angry people of anything so I'm going to just give up. Tigers win the national title tomorrow

texas played a great game last night but no doubt we will take game three... for a small ball team ... 4 solo homers exceptional

Oh ye of little faith.
In game 2, Texas HAD to win.
Boys, THEY SHOT THEIR WAD.
Tonite, Game 3, the Tiger team we've watched and loved all year long will show up and take home the hardware.

Especially since they had to burn through their bullpen to get that win.

Not reading the whole thread, but saying LSU was 'dominated' in game 1 is ranter hall of fame material. Our ace left 5 pitches over the middle of the plate that landed on the other side of the fence ( you can put some blame on the ump for that, but 90%+ has to go on Coleman ). Basically, LC's worse pitching performance this year. Give credit to Texas for hitting those balls out, but fact is, if Coleman is 'Coleman' in game 1, LSU wins it in 9 innings, 6-1 or 6-2. There is a difference between poor pitching and good hitting, and that was mostly poor pitching - not even close to 'domination'.

P.S. I hate the announcers who seem to have this infatuation with All conferences but the SEC
Seriously, no flame here, but I really have to wonder which games you were watching. These announcers CLEARLY want LSU to win. Mike Patrick sounds like he's going to put a .45 in his mouth every time something goes right for Texas and every time something goes wrong for LSU. The entire booth wore all Purple for their first broadcast. Whenever Mitchell comes up they bubble with giddiness, especially Patrick. It irritated me for about 3 minutes and then just became kind of funny, so please don't take this as a dig or anything even remotely like that. I just really don't understand how you can say there's some anti-SEC or LSU bias happening in this deal.

ETA: I don't really enjoy baseball that much so my sophmoric interpretation of what I saw and this subsequent sticky makes me chuckle.
Though I disagree with your description of Monday night, I do agree that Texas has controlled almost the entire series so far. But the 1st 2 games don't matter anymore. It's a 1 game championship series now. And we're 5-0 in those.

I love you Carl.

Do you people really believe that ESPN and/or NCAA tells the umps to widen the strikezone for a team....so that the series goes extra innings? Do you really believe that?
I'll ask it another way: Do you honestly believe that they do this?

TX has had the bats. LSU needs to get their bats swinging & on target. Need more carrots.

It seems to me that a pitcher that has a lot of movement on his pitches seems to get a lot more close calls from the umpires
I think that is mostly true but I have to disagree somewhat last night. I thought Cain pitched great for us last night but there were several calls that did not go his way last night. At times his breaking ball was really breaking. So much, in fact, that a lot of them were crossing the plate as a strike and had enough break that by the time Gibbs caught them they were out of the strike zone. A lot of them were called balls. Just the .02 of someone with limited baseball knowledge.
