Sounds good. I have no opinion one way or another. Just curious what others thought. I don't know a lot about him.

Major Applewhite for OC?

Posted by Tiger818 on 11/30/15 at 5:27 pm
He seems to be doing a pretty good job at Houston right now. Plus he's a Baton Rouge native.
I believe U-High game will be broadcast on 104.5 and also on Cox cable 38.

Hell yeah! Jamal... Come on down!!! I am so pumped to see this guy play. Call me crazy but of all the recruits committed or considered locks, I think this guy is as close to a guaranteed stud on the field as we have or will get.

I don't think you're crazy. I happen to agree 110%. Dude is a stud!

Good read

I loved Miles' comment after the Ole Miss game. :rotflmao:
quote:

The reason this is so bull is because like 20 teams can say this. That's sports, you lose close games when you are a good but not great team. It is not some sham of bad luck it is just the game

We don't lose close games because we are a just a "good" team. We lose close games because we get outcoached. That is not always the case but more the norm instead of the exception. Why do you think we lost to Ole Miss?

Doesn't LSU only have one sack on the season?

They do not have to sack him to get him out of the game. They just need to pound him every time he gets rid of the ball.

I enjoy reading the posts but it takes me twice as long to decipher the names as it does to read it.

And my answer is LH....

It doesn't freaking matter how many games we win!! All our wins are against teams NOT in the top 25

Is that our fault? How many of our losses are to teams in the top 25? The top 3?

If you remove us from the equation Florida has not beaten a single team in the Top 25. And Alabama has only beaten VT, if you think a 3-loss VT is a Top 25 team.

Why don't you focus your energy on something that is controllable?

I would take this deal in a heartbeat if I was Aleva.[quote]

[quote]I wouldn't because I'd rather have a defensive minded coach, but damn what RR couldn't do with this team. I mean shite, we already the players a team like his would need. Some of those games could get FUGLY.

Yeah, it would get FUGLY alright. But the FUGLY part would be all of you trying to run his arse out of town after he lost a couple of games.
RR coming over here? If I was Aleva I'd tell him to call me when he mananges to win half of his games in the Big 10.

thats going to be hard on the road. Our leadership will have to step up

And what leadership is that? Who is the leader on offense? It appears Sheppard is taking that role on defense but who is our leader on offense?

+1. Whovever wins in the trenches will win this game. And I feel Alabama has a big advantage on both lines.

In my opinion he has played well in the last two games, he has not thrown more than one interception in a game... ever, and regardless of being sacked (I blame O-line) he has made some great plays with his feet. Enough of the Lee talk guys.

You will see after Saturday. And you can throw out all the statictics you want. TD's, Int's, blah, blah, blah. It's not always about statictics but how you lead your team and how the team responds to you. We need a leader and he is not one. He is a good football player but he is not the future of this team.

Why do you think Miles wouldn't go for the TD on 4th down on the 1 yard line in the Florida game? Is that what he did the last time we played them in Tiger Stadium? He used to be called the Riverboat Gambler, and for good reason. But he has no confidence in this team. And, frankly, it is not Miles' responsibility to put his trust in them. It is THEIRS to earn his trust by the way they play on the field. Saturday would be a good time for them to make a statement, not just to us fans, but to their coach and to the rest of the country.

And I disagree with you blaming only the offensive line for the sacks. Yes, some of them were the fault of breakdowns on the O-line but most of them stem from JJ's inability to get rid of the ball in a timely manner. He has to make his reads and get rid of the ball quickly. He is not doing that.

And just which opponent did Alabama impress you against?

Offensively or defensively?

And just which opponent did LSU impress you against? Tulane? ULL? Jesus, please don't tell me Auburn.

I have 2 questions for you and if you answer LSU to either of them you are an idiot:

1. Who has the best running game? Alabama may not have played impressive teams either but at least they could run the ball against them. They were expected to run the ball and they did. Same cannot be said for us.

2. Who has the best defense? I won't even comment on this.

In the SEC if you play better defense than your opponent and you run the ball successfully, what are your odds of winning the game?

Oh, I forgot to mention they have been off the last 2 weeks preparing to play us.

we need screens, draws and counters. misdirection and reverses won't work either. alabama is too fast imo.

Maybe not, but the point is we have to try them. It's like taking a shot downfield. YOu may not convert it but it makes the defense honest. Also, screens, draws, and counters would be a welcome sight for me. At least I would know they were trying something different. And that's what it's going to take to beat them.

I've been thinking the same. I'm greatly concerned about our ability to run against the Tide and our ability to protect JJ. Our offense will have to be streamlined and happen quick. Quick slants, hot reads, quick screens, roll outs. I just can't see there being much pocket time.

I agree totally. I also think if we can have a little success running the ball (that's a BIG if) then it will open up the play-action. I also think putting him in max protect when he does drop back will also help. Keep Scott in as a blocker in the backfield. IMO they are too big and too fast to line up and beat them one-on-one. We need to give their defense different looks to keep them off-guard.

That being said, I think we lose this one to a little bit better team on the road who has had 2 weeks of rest and preparation.

Hope I'm wrong.
