It’s not going to be about if LSU can score. We will and both sides I believe knows it. Venables can call a perfect defense and this offense can exploit it, period. Back shoulder passes, high pointing the ball, our routes we run, Moss/CEH on top of 1-2-6, our run game etc. will have plenty of success to win.

LSU’s issue will be on defense not offense, period. If Aranda and this defense can find a way to shut this team down and be effective on early downs, to force them into difficult 3rd down situations and we have a good plan to be effective on 3rd down, will be the difference in a great night for LSU or a tit for tat type of scoring match.

Even then, I think LSU’s ST’s has the edge here and in this type of game, could be the difference, if we can’t figure out how to stop their offense. I think TO’s can make a difference in this game IF there are multiple TO’s at key point in the game. I don’t think 1 TO will be the difference. It’s possible but I think it will take more than that for one team to pull away from the other and it not come down to the final drive.

A lot of you are very stupid. You want to make a reason that’ll be close..

Adjustments won’t matter

Clemson doesn’t have the horses.

LSU 45
Clemson 20

I do agree with this statement..... however..... this is college football and so many little things can change momentum within the game and the game in general. Directly or indirectly. Turnovers (of course), a missed tackle here or there, a dropped pass in a critical spot, etc.

That's what I'm saying. They aren't going to "scheme" us into a low scoring game. They are going to have "Jimmys and Joes" for that. It's really hard to speculate if they do because the only team we would allow in this convo would be OSU. If Dobbins doesn't get hurt...he may still be running! Sometimes "better" shows up quick!

This game comes down to red zone production. Aside from turnovers which can happen in any game, scoring TDs is the key. LSU will have several scoring chances and we must finish drives. OSU could have easily gone up 28-0 as opposed to 16-0. The difference was less than 20 yards rot score 12 more points. Not sure Clemson would have overcome that deficit.

This is all true. I think in some respects there’s more pressure on Clemson to finish with TDs than there is LSU, though. Going up early by multiple TDs would give LSU a pretty hefty advantage, but FGs are a high-percentage play for them and settling for 1-2 is probably well within their margin of error, especially if they don’t have to exclusively rely on FGs in early drives. Clemson’s kicker, OTOH, is somewhat of a liability. His inconsistency means they would probably have to take bigger risks statistically to catch up or keep up, which offers LSU’s D more chances to force or capitalize on mistakes from an overly aggressive offense.

There’s been so much talk about this game being about two elite QBs facing off, but I don’t think it’s that much of a stretch to say the kickers could end up being a huge factor in the outcome. You never want to have to settle for FGs, but if you have a decent kicker and your team is struggling to find the RZ, then 21 points is 21 points no matter how you get them — especially if the other team realistically lacks that option. Strange that it isn’t the topic of more discussion.

Fields has the most yards of this season against Clemson and they can’t say it was in slop time.

Auburn was a perfect storm of weather, coaching mistakes and a huge special teams turnover which led to the outcome. We moved the ball at will we just made some poor coaching choices at key moments then we shutdown the offense too early right when it was getting revved up. Not only that but Auburn had the personnel up front to actually challenge our offense, Clemson does not by a long shot. But back to your OP, look at the Texas game, it was 3-0 at the end of the first quarter then Burrow ended up in the record books by the games end.

I think this game has a very good chance to be similar to the Alabama game IMO. Think about it, great QB play, great WRs, great RB’s, good OL, good DL, young players across the starting lineup with a few veteran players.

The only differences are that this isn’t a road game, this won’t be the first time we go up against a team of this caliber, they don’t know LSU like Bama does, they don’t have the speed Bama’s WRs did and I don’t think Clemson will score on ST’s.

Clemson still has the capability to score like Bama does but in different ways. I think our corners and safeties would rather play these bigger physical WRs then they would the more agile route runners that Bama has. I also think Clemson has the more explosive TB. LSU pulled away from Bama in that game but let them back in it with big explosive plays. I think this game has more of a chance to be a real dog fight then it has to be a blow out. I also think if it is a 14 point plus game, it’ll be LSU on top, not Clemson.

Again, it’ll be which defense can force the most punts at key moments in the game or create more TO’s at key moments in the game or both. Both offenses have plenty of fire power to score enough points to win. Let’s get it!! Go Tigers!!!

This is true

It may take more than just the first two possessions. I also agree with the guy who posted that really the defense getting stops will be the difference between a blowout and a tit for tat. Mostly. Unless Joe just goes OFF on these clowns like he did against OU and scores TD's on 7 of 8 possessions.

Then really how much D do you need?

These guys are so bad in coverage and so aggressive I think we may see alot of the same as we did against OU and the game may be over by halftime.
