We were not going to let Herman or Jimbo hold us hostage.

This is not a pro or anti O thread. Issue with Herman or Jimbo is they would have used us to get as much money as they could in a cash grab. LSU wanted not part in getting into a bidding war that would leak into the public.

We offer Herman say 5.5 million a year. He goes to Texas and they say 6.5 million. He comes back to us like what you got. It goes on and on. Besides even if we got Herman people would bitch because of the state of Louisiana budgets and we are throwing crazy cash at a football coach (BTW yes I know the athletic department is not using State funds but my prior statement still stands.)

Fact: we didn't want to spend the money.

How it's spun: We're not going to be "held hostage" to other coaches and their agents.

The fact that so many LSU fans are buying into Joe's propaganda is disturbing.

The sad fact is that Les Miles used us as a bargaining chip and benefited from it. As much as we want to think of LSU as a destination for top coaching talent, whenever we've had top coaches (Dietzel, Saban), they left us for another job. As far as I'm concerned, it's time to get behind the Coach O hire and hope he can keep Aranda and bring in a really sharp, inventive play caller at OC. If he does that, it'll be all about the recruiting, discipline, and weekly motivation for O.

That's fine but why not bring in a few others and at least attempt to perform a search?

We're perfectly capable of holding ourselves hostage.

All this we weren't gonna get into a bidding war crap it's total BS excuse from an AD that just shat the bed big league. You don't fire Les in September if you aren't prepared to do whatever it takes to get your guy. This why LSU is not in the same class as Ohio St., Bama and Michigan.

I don't have a problem with telling people to frick off, especially in Herman's case.

However, we had a 6 week head start. Plan A, B, then OH shite, HURRY UP AND SIGN O! isn't the most professional look.

It was more about the fact that Alleva said O would have the job with wins vs FL and A&M. That's what is driving half the fan base crazy. It's like the 2 months of "coaching search" was such a frick you to LSU as a whole

Then don't fricking fire Les Miles. If you want to win, you have to be willling to pay. Whether Joe liked it or not, he's was in a bidding war the day he fired Les.

LSU had no leverage in this. If Joe didn't think he was going to have to overpay, then he is a fricking moron, which by now is clearly evident

You are assuming Herman is going to win on this level. Big assumption for $7 million.

And the outcome we ended up with is somehow better? Convince me how?

Actually, Alleva probably screwed Herman out of 1M per year by pulling out.
