Seems like every single time teams shift against us it plays out perfect.
Meanwhile the inverse seems like we’re always out of position.

We have beaten the shift three times today already

Scouts don’t come up with the hit direction percentages.

Did you watch last weekend? Not being facetious I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bigger discrepancy between 2 teams. We crushed balls right at people all weekend long

Scouting absolutely determines what metrics are tracked and implemented..

and they. bounced ground balls through the infield where we had vacated due to the shift. 3 runs in early innings directly because of the shift. Our pitchers do not contribute to any shift, but generally the opposite.

The biggest thing that irks me isn’t the shift itself, it’s that batters make absolutely zero attempt to combat it.
College pitchers are not all that good generally speaking. And yet our lefties (and this is for years) just keep rolling over dead center or even outside pitches instead of letting the ball travel and pushing it to the wide open left side.
Drives me insane.
Jay is an elite offensive coach no doubt, but sometimes I dislike our approach.
