If he reaches his goal, he’ll be throwing every 5 days over 162 within the next year or so.

They get weeks off too.

You don’t think 100+ pitches a week is a lot?

Just two weeks ago he only threw about 50.

Cool.

I wouldn’t have him pick up a ball the week of the SEC tournament

He hasn't been as dominant since. You could make the argument he hasn't been getting enough work.

They ran him up to 111 pitches last week in a 10 run game. If you wanted any clue how they are going to treat him

Pitchers need work. This is an awful idea.

He had one bad inning. I’m not sure I would say he is laboring.

Your initial post could be described with this. Pitchers need to be stretched out and conditioned to pitch deep into games. Wes Johnson is likely a lot more qualified than you in this department.

I’m not talking about results. I’m talking about the deep counts. The unwillingness to throw breaking pitches when behind. The over reliance on the fastball even while ahead.

He’s not pitching with the same fearlessness he was earlier in the season.

I’m not saying he’s hurt or on the verge of injury or ineffective or anything like that. I just think he could use a breather before we make that last push for a natty.

He’s been throwin 105+ pitches regularly. I’d say he’s pretty stretched out.

Y’all are acting like I’m telling Jay to sit him next week. I’m not. I’m saying that this team needs to handle business and find a way to get him a rest week before post season play.

This isn’t unheard of. I’m pretty sure we did it as recent as Lange.

Going through you’re whole pre-start routine and then throwing 50 pitches isn’t a rest week.

I really don’t understand why in the hell people are trying to argue with you.
If we get a sweep or 2… I see no issues with sitting him during the tournament or before.

I didn’t get to watch the entire game, but his velo seemed down from what I did see, and I wanna say it was down last week too. Sounds stupid to say his velo Is down when he was throwing 96-99… but it’s still not what he was 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Throwing 50 pitches in a game is a lot less stressful than throwing 110.

Skenes has not been over worked . He pitches once a week and just two weeks ago he only threw 50 pitches.
