We lost this game because our SP didn't give us a chance to win it

it has nothing to do with PM's decisions on who to pinch hit.

any team would have great difficulty in overcoming the "gifts" our pitching gave away but esp. our young hitters.

the good news is that we can still win this series and we will if we can score 5 runs each game (imo). that is, if we can pitch well.

Mainieri's job is to take a pitcher out when he is struggling.

Mainieri's job is to put the best guy in when he does finally decide to take out the starter.

Mainieri's job is to put the best guy at the plate when the tying run is batting in the 9th inning.

Idk about you but I felt more confident with Lange staying in than trying out luck with a struggling bullpen. He did retire 7 in a row later in the game.

The way this season has been thus far, our best guy could be our worst guy any given day.

yes it is but most SP'ers settle down and, in Langes case, dominate thereafter. and PM knows his pitchers a lot better than you and I. and it's always easy to criticize the move after it's done (or not done)

i'm sorry, but Paul Mainieri did not lose this game. it's typical to ALWAYS blame it on the coaches but an athletes performance is not always due to the coaches. and that applies to great performance also.

the only coach I have a real problem with is the damn base running coach. he needs to have those duties taken from him. I've seen enough of his failures.

nah. that was last game. we have two brand new games to play and they may play out completely different. they usually do.

i'm actually encouraged with our hitting today and Auburn's staff sucks.

Mainieri is at fault for how the team is playing, but I'm not saying it is all his fault.

Take the last Auburn game as an example. Lange could have pitched better. We could have used a clutch hit or 2. Nolan Cain probably cost us 3 runs stopping Reid and Freeman, sending Fraley with 1 out. Etc.

That's what you get when you let a pitcher coach 3B

I would take my chances leaving Lange and fighting through with him instead of going to the bullpen in the 4th inning of game 1 of 3 in 24hrs against a good hitting team.

True, but the kid did battle and est up some innings do we didn't have to go to our pen early.

Down 4-0 with our hitters and with Auburn's team you had to believe Auburn had this one.

We bounced back with a stellar effort from Poche and limped home.

Tommorow we have a starter who can give us five or six and a fairly rested pen.

Our ace gave up six, our close gave up 4, our 2nd baseman is cutting off the SS, a true freshman with 10 ABs all season pinch hits as the tying run.

ALL IS WELL
