It’s the culture of paying players ungodly amounts of money.

There are no first years anymore with that type of investment.

Is what it is.

What was Saban’s first year record at LSU and didn’t we get beat by UAB back then? Oh and what was his first year record at Alabama, and I believe they lost to ULM that year too. RELAX!

Apples and oranges. Saban took over two struggling programs, and LSU didn’t have the recruiting pull it has today. He also didn’t get to buy a $40 million roster on day one. He had to recruit and build his teams over several years because that was the only way to do it back then.

I agree Kiffin deserves more than one year, but expectations were high for a reason. With that kind of money invested in the roster, expecting wins over Ole Miss and Kentucky, and competitive games against Bama and the SEC’s top programs, isn’t unreasonable.

True, it takes many seasons of dunking basketballs on K-Mart goals, kids with fire extinguishers, and celebrity whores to establish a winning culture.

Unfortunately a culture of winning and toughness isn’t something you can implement in one offseason.

Some how Indiana did it quickly

Alabama roster was flipped with many new players

3 straight playoffs with new coach

Damn I’m sick

There is no more “rebuilding” or “installing culture” in the NIL-portal era. You win big NOW.

That's the biggest fallacy being thrown around on this board. Football doesn't work that way. Not today, not in the past.

Everyone loves to cite Indiana as an example. Ok, let's look at that. Cignetti's first year, he was 11-1 regular season and made the playoff.
That team played exactly 1 ranked team during the regular season, Ohio State, and lost 38-15.
They played their second ranked team in the playoffs, Notre Dame, and lost 27-17.
They played 2 teams that were ranked at some point in the year, but had dropped out by the time they played- Nebraska and Michigan.

Now look at LSU. We've lost to 3 ranked teams, Ole Miss and Kentucky on the road, Alabama at home. We beat Miss State (who was ranked at the time) at home. We beat A&M (who was ranked to start the season) at home. We have 2 more games vs ranked teams yet to play.

|f Miss State or A&M was the 2nd best team on our schedule this year, what do you think our record would be?

Imagine comparing what Kiffin inherited to what DeBoer did

Holy shite

DeBoer also lost in a bowl game his first season. Didn’t make the playoffs
