Hes the best we could get and prob equal to a few out there. He and saban are best in sec rt now. Meyer was a damn good coach too.

Anyone who thought we should fire him is a moron though and shouldnt be taken seriously.

when he arrived both at LSU and Alabama. What I mean by that is, upon arriving at both of these schools, the HS seniors of the respective states were best in the nation and were probably going to the flagship school anyway
disagree, webster, spears & clayton were not coming to lsu before saban, webster was headed to nebraska, spears to miami, clayton to fla. st, saban got them to change their mind & play close to home at lsu, which they became the heart & soul of lsu's 03 national championship

If you go 14-10 in 3 years in the SEC and get shut out of your conference championship 3 years in a row does that qualify you as the best coach in college football? Meanwhile in that same 3 years Saban goes 21-3 (SEC regular season) and wins 2 out of 3 West Titles. I wouldn't say Les is the best coach in his own 6 team division let alone all of college football.
Even the best coach can't prevent starting QB's from fricking up and getting kicked off the team and making the next in line's play better.

And if Saban is the standard, he had a pretty lame year at LSU his last season here.

But, "Best Coach"? I don't know. Depends on what people value in a coach. I think Les certainly has the achievements to stake a claim to that title and great results this season would seal that.

Sorry but wrong. All a coach has to do is throw out all his integrity and RP rolls for LSU! Glad he got booted even though it cost LSU dearly in the win column for a while.

i'm with you otis. I don't always understand him, but I sure as hell love having him. may not be the best when it comes to game decisions such as properly utilizing time outs, and managing the clock. But as a recruiter, motivator, role model, schemer, and having nuts of steel, there is not one coach I would take above him.

Also Ztiger, give Les time on the multiple championships. He also won't have NC in multiple conferences because he is not a money sniffer and an a-hole. Les has more wins than Saban. Use your brain and get over it.

How stupid are you?

Miles was hired on January 2, 2005. How much could he have known about RP in the month before signing day even if there was anything to know at that point?

I wouldn't trade Les for many coaches in college football right now.

Throughout his career, Saban's offense as been similar to the one we used the other night. I dunno what you mean by this statement. We played with a short field the majority of the night and Oregon had a huge drive that encompassed most of the 2nd quarter. We could have easily had around 400 yards of total offense against a pretty good team. Saban has perennially had shitty to mediocre QB play and a strong running game at every program he's coached.

I certainly don't think Miles is better though.

Interesting, you mean the same Saban that lost to UAB and ULM??

Or the same Saban that has been beaten by CLM 3 out of 5 times??

ahhh... now you are changing it up... you didn't say that in the OP... if i'm going for an X's and O's guy, a recruiter, a motivator, and someone with a track record, gimme Saban or Stoops...

i love Miles, i really do... he's unique... but if you think he's has a great football intellect, you are mistaken.... not all that long ago, we were all about ready to crucify him for clock management issues... he still is inept to some degree on the offensive side of the ball, and thank god he gives total control to chavis on the defensive side...

Miles' Xs and Os are vastly underrated. Him/his staff see more things on tape than 99% of other coaches including saban. It showed up this weekend against florida with the fake punt. It was said in the Advocate that the coaches said they had seen that the floridas assigned rushers leave early on essentially every return setting up for a fake punt. Saban didnt see that. Perhaps its because of Les' philosophy of emphasizing all phases as equal including special teams. It has won us several games. For a while under Nick we werent even offering kickers and punters athletic scholarships. Im not saying Les is Saban as far as xs and os but he aint too shabby either. His game prep and exposing weaknesses is second to none. Thats why with a week to prepare we are deadly and that has been consistant over several coordinator changes.

With Les Miles, you don't ever have to worry about an NC being ruined by rule violations.

Les Miles isn't going to leave you with a team that is on probation.

Les Miles isn't going to jump to the NFL.

Les Miles is one of the few people on this earth who might end up as LSU's "Joe Pat" - which would be a hell of an accomplishment since the LSU fan base is a lot ornerier.

no, we don't...

As of RIGHT NOW??? YES WE DO. Don't get me into a dispute about this. Saban is a great SUN-FRI coach. Mile WILL eat his lunch come Nov 5th. YES HE and this team are THAT GOOD.
